Summa F Series

Anyone running the Summa F series (flatbed)? I didn't find much info in searching. Are they any good for cutting 3mm+ pvc, foamcore, etc...?

I'm scratching my head why anyone would buy one of these. It's so small. 63" x 47"? I talked to the techs and looked at one when it was in development and even the techs didn't understand the small size.

Can't cut a 4 x 8 sheet, and want 80k for the thing?

It's made in Belgium, where 1.6 x 1.2 meters is a round number. But I think standard sheet material size in Europe is 1.2 x 2.4 meters. So it's a bit small on two continents, I'd think.

Zünd G3 is amazing if you have deep pockets; otherwise MultiCAM is, I beleive, the most feature-rich for the price. Gerber, too, has nice routers.

Currently the routing work is done on the outside. 99% of them would fit on the bed. I would simply gang things up on the 4' x 8' in a manner that I can first give the sheet rough trimming to fit clusters of parts on the cutter. I agree a larger cutter would be nice, but there is quite a jump in price.

Hey Dice this this is actually on a conveyor type setup so because it can hold up to 67" and cuts up 63" wide it can do a 5' x 10' no problem and in fact it can go up to 150'

here is what there website says.

I'm also checking this cutter. I love my summa d160, but why would I take a summa F with odd size before a multicam digital express as an example.

We have one...

Its actually great machine. If you're doing a boatload of 4x8 work all day long, then yes one with a bigger bed is going to be more efficient. However, if you're doing roll work, its great, and it even does a great job on 4x8 sheets.

We do a real mixtures of sizes and materials, and for $80k vs $150 for Esko or Zund with same function, its a real deal.

Its ability to move the materials and continue cutting (segmenting) works perfect, and rarely gets out of register. We run ours really hard, and its working great!
