I don't like war either, but I was raised that FREEDOM isn't FREE, and that we all have to pay the price for our FREEDOM, so in 1968 at the peak of the Vietnam war, just 6 months out of high school I enlisted in the US Army, and in April of 1969 was sent off to Vietnam were I served 18 months. As a veteran, I appreciate all the accolades in this thread, however I feel Memorial Day, is more about the lives lost in the pursuit of our FREEDOM, in my case the 58,000 plus who died in Vietnam.
Veteran's day is coming November 11, and because I was only wounded and not KIA in Vietnam, I personally feel that Veterans Day is more aligned with my service to our country.
