When I have to drill in drywall to hang signs, I use the electrical finder thingy on the stud finder. I also look for electrical outlets and visually run a line up from there. If I hit anything other than drywall I stop and don't push further.

do you test you electrical "thingy" on your stud finder first, to make sure it is operating correctly?

my father had a knack, he could hammer a small nail to hang a picture and poerce a piece of bx cable...

the good thing about cordless tools is that their housings are double insulated, making it safer when we have these minor accidents
