Tiles not lining up together.

I am printing large murals and can not get my tile to line up to one another. I have been told by a service tech that a 1/8" differance in lenght for a 12' mural is with in Rolands tolerance. Is this average for all printer?

Yes, 1/8" stretch (if not more) over a 12' panel is definitely going to happen. Especially if using a softer vinyl. Heck, just the weight of it hanging against the wall will stretch it on it's own.

The key is to either design with that in mind (no continuous tight fitting elements all the way down the panel like repeating stripes, type, etc) or you hang your first panel slightly higher at the top and then let the material stretch a little as you work it towards the bottom.

Thanks FatCat

That's what I thought. Most of our designs come from our clients so I can't change that. Thought about printing smaller tile (6'x4') and having more seams do you think that would salve the problem or just create more miss alignment?

did you also rotate alternate panels in the rip?

They don't match on the table, but when installing you can use a little more tension to match the short to the long.

I have a similar mural to print next week, half inch grid across 20 feet of wall.
