In NYS the DOT code requires 3" lettering Minimum within the 5 Buros of NYC.

Code was revised to 3" since 911.
All commercial veicles including non DOT in must also include
buisiness name
address of business location

If you have a pick up or van that requires commercial plates and no business than your name and address.

Had a customer get fined $175.00 for not having door panels lettered. It was his personal van. It didn't matter it's a terrorrist thing.

Visible from 50', to me that was always 1 1/2" talll, never had a problem since 1988 of doing that size. We do 100-150 trucks a year.
That is off the US dept of Transportaion site....USDOT...DUH!!!

BTW, truck drivers are only one step above the garbage man so they are not to smart....

I stand corrected. It's 3" lettering and 1.5"DOT.
