US Tariffs, Sigh!

Speaking as an outsider from the UK I can't see why lots of Americans can't understand the tariffs are going to cost THEM money? The exporters won't be paying it, nor will the importers. ALL the costs are going to be passed on to the public.
All you are going to end up with is being worse off as everything will cost you more. How many things to America actually wholly produce without using any imported parts or outsourcing work to China?
Trump and Musk don't care as they are worth billions, but the normal working people in the USA are going to be hit hard in their pockets

Rather than stay political.... Let's go back to tarrifs.

25% tarrif on aluminum and steel across the board... I'll bet anyone $50 it gets backtracked within a week. And if it doesn't... It's going to hurt everyone on this forum. Acp.... Aluminum signs.... Frames, cars etc. 25% from every country means you guys just taxed yourself 25%.

Pushing manufacturing back into USA isn't a bad idea, but trying to force it overnight is... Why not use some of the savings to build out infrastructure to bring manufacturing back?
Nah, just remember the wall that Mexico was gonna pay for, these are the same people who believed that.

I always enjoy hearing profound information coming from Canadians and a guy from England on American political landscape. both of their economies are not doing well.
You don't have to live in the USA to be able to understand what is happening there. Our inflation rate is still lower than yours, and yours is only going to increase if Trump has his way.
Trump and Musk are not popular in any countries other than the USA. The rest of the world is looking on in horror at what you voted for :(

I always enjoy the irony of the American guy telling me the Canadian economy isn't doing well. I think you should question wherever you are getting your info/news from.

yes, but now even the sources skew the telling of facts in their favor - you need to find multiple sources, look at their motivations and then have critical thoughts as to what is actually happening.
straight from the horses mouth. you can't have multiple sources. what you CAN HAVE, is actions behind their words.

I like making signs
I found this from the European Council on Foreign Relations. I see teh UK and Switzerland have a negative view and Canada is not on here.

Thinking that Biden is more corrupt than Trump is probably the most laughable comment in this entire thread.

He is nothing but a grifter and conman. He doesn't give a flying f&$# about you, me, or anyone without the last name Trump. He stole form a children's cancer charity, had multiple federal cases brought against him for false claims and racketeering in regards to Trump U, used the office of the President to enrich himself and his company by staying at his properties over 500 times in his first term and overcharging us taxpayers for his Secret Service detail, 143 members of congress made 361 visits to Trump properties to grovel, 150 officials from 77 foreign governments visited Trump properties during his first term, he mentioned his own business or properties nearly 400 times during interviews/Tweets/etc. while in office, dozens of his lawyers/associates/appointees have been indicted or convicted for crimes related to him, pardoned 1,500 insurrectionists, tried to overthrow our government, alluded to rigging the election in multiple interviews/rallies/ramblings, has been known for decades for not paying contractors what they're owed, did an ad for Goya Beans AT THE RESOLUTE DESK in the Oval Office (if Obama was the one sitting in that picture giving two thumbs up with a dumb grin on his face right would riot), blatant nepotism when appointing Ivanka and Kushner who were completely unqualified for their positions (and they got rewarded handsomely from foreign nations after his presidency), launched multiple NFT grifts, sells overpriced watches & guitars & perfume & shoes (announcing the launch of the "Fight Fight Fight" edition of his ugly sneakers before he even bothered calling the widow of the man who was killed at his rally was especially classy), launching the meme coin $Trump the day before he was inaugurated so he can receive funds from any person or government with absolutely no oversight and raking in billions, on and on and on and on and on. But yes, Biden was definitely the most corrupt.

Not to mention his moral failing: cheating on his first wife with his second wife, his second wife with his third wife, his third wife with a porn star just after , and his porn star with a Playboy model, constantly talking about how attractive his own daughter is, walking in on underage beauty pageant participants because he owned it and could, admitting on tape to being a sexual predator and assaulting women, being accused and sued a couple dozen times for rape, being found guilty of sexual abuse, 34 felonies for falsifying business records, was friends with Jeffrey Epstein for 20 years and said that he likes women almost as much as trump, a lot of them on the younger side, calling for the death penalty for the Central Park 5 and never retracting or apologizing when they were cleared, him and his father were indicted for not renting to black people, on and on and on.

If Obama or Biden did a single one of these things the right would throw an absolute hissy fit. You know what they say, if Republicans didn't have double standards they wouldn't have any standards at all.
No wonder you're throwing a fit right now at what's happening if you believe all of that. stats show that the majority of the american public don't believe any of this. Trumps current approval rating is 53%. The funny part of this post is the fact that a lot of Americans believe that the government has been ripping us off for years. Since the 80s we were told there would be no social security for gen x when we are ready to retire. Weve had these massive omnibus bills that were passed quickly over the years and people didn't have time to read them. NOW that trump has put a plan in action and has elon and the hackers involved, the democrats are losing their minds.

There's a USA today article that lists all of trumps court cases and the wins/losses and draws. https://www.usatoday.com/pages/interactives/trump-lawsuits/

Biden- save 10% for the big guy isnt corrupt for you?

Stats show the majority of the public don't believe any of this? Do they have the internet? Because you can verify nearly everything I said in a matter of seconds. Cognitive dissonance is wild.

How do you know Hunter wasn't talking about tithing? 10% for the big guy upstairs. About as much proof he pays tithing as there is he paid Joe.

We should make a political thread for people who just want to talk politics:roflmao:

I'm genuinely curious about the steel / aluminum tarrifs! I feel like this one effects the signage industry directly. It's not going to be a 25% price jump on alupanel / aluminum, but there's going to be a decent jump.

Will you guys eat the cost? Pass it along? If so will you explain the cost increase is due to the tarrif? Feels like aluminum and steel have gone through the roof since covid already.

no real options - if our customers want the metal signs, then they pay for the metal signs. the cost is what it is and will be what it will be....... I predict tariffs will hurt USA businesses. likely others as well as this is a global economy.

because the fbi has certified that the laptop was Hunter's. How do you not know this? Did you not see the video of joe saying, "well son of a bitch, they fired the prosecutor...and they got the billion dollars"...
Do you realize that the government paid for propaganda to all of the news media outlets across the world?

You're right. the cognitive dissonance is WILD. how do you NOT know these things?

Geneva, I am not arguing against or for your point - but I have seen AI generated videos that look very real that back up both sided.... (personal sampling, more of the fakes seem to support the MAGA group - at least from what I have seen.) How do you really know that video you saw of Hunter was real? I have seem a good clip of Putin walking Trump on a leash - looked like a real photo image (spoiler: I am pretty sure it was fake....)

in this world today it seems like, the main goal of the influencers is to keep the infighting going. People should look for ways to de-escalate situations, not fan the flames. BOTH sides are guilty of hyperbole and rhetoric which only helps to further the divide.
