I spoke with the USSC show staff yesterday. We have been a long time exhibitor, but took last year off. Glad we did. In their own words, it was pitiful.

I asked the USSC staff to give me a list of facts and their action plan moving forward, with the intent of sharing it with the community here. They agreed and will put pen to paper. I encouraged them to GET INVOLVED here.

They are a well intentioned great bunch of folks. But, they are feeling the pain of well-funded operations bulldozing their market. The big exhibitors like Roland need to go where the dollars and attendance are.

They are VERY aware of their predicament, and it sounds like they now have the empowerment and ability to make the needed changes over the next few years. I like what they are proposing. I'll keep you all posted.

I do not know about that one, but I will definitely be at the ISS AC show in March.
I know it does not have a bunch of Sign stuff, but I'm more apparel oriented anyhow.

Not just Vendors

I also think it's not just the vendors that make a show worth attending. Sure its a start and they are needed, but it's also education and training. If you could have your say, what topics would you want to see taught? Also, it's about going to the show! Attendance at ALL the shows has dropped. I know its partly economy, partly internet, but seems to me if we don't show up, they don't get vendors and then they don't do the show. How about a survey here of how many would attend the USSC show?

We have so many talented people on this forum. Would any of you be willing to share your knowledge with all of us? I for one, would be happy to do so. I can educate on color management, laminating and finishing, Flexi, Social Media and more. I'd like to see a booth labeled "I'm in the Business" with rotating folks from here answering questions we get on this forum, but doing so live! Maybe 1 hour shifts, all voluntary. Maybe the admin here could take the top 20 or 30 questions or issues and supply those to the folks at USSC. USSC could let all of us here know the questions that will be addressed and when, so we could show up at the right time. Something like this anyway. Just thinking out loud.

What are your thoughts?

I would go to all the shows but the traveling is a problem, i like just walking the show picking up on new equipment and info. I also think the education/classes are a good crowd grabber as well. I usually go to the atlantic city show but i can come home same day if i need to but the vegas, cali and orlando shows cost me to much to go and it's too much time out of the shop. I am surprised they don't have a show at the javits center. I would think a nyc show would be a big draw.
