Vinyl on Tent

Customer has one of these:

Its 100% Polyester with all that UV & sealant stuff on it.

So thinking we are going to have to basically use EasyWeed, do you think the heat press will damage the tent?

Is there a specific vinyl we should be using? I stuck a test cut of just some 651 to see how well just calendars vinyl will stick to it. Seems to be stuck but I don't think it will hold up outside very well.

Hoping for some information on this, thanks for your help.

i have done this with 651 but it was a temp thing usually just for a trade show for the day. it was outside and the customer didn't complain so i guess it worked out

Banner vinyl and for the amount of time those things last before they blow down/away I have used normal vinyl (Avery700) which has lasted fine. Clean the area well first, then stick on a test piece and give it a light heat with heat gun, wait for it to cool and then try and remove it, you'll find that it sticks great.

Iv'e done a lot of those in the past but they were made out of sunbrella I think, it was more like a banner material and everything I stuck on them stuck well.

What is Banner Vinyl?

I did stick some 651 on it and if I'm hearing this right, just heat that up with a heat gun and that should hold? Right now it peels off very easy.

I think they are looking for something long term, but I may just have to tell them we're not sure how long it will hold up or at all.

I'd paint it, using Ronan's Aqua Coat.
First coat yellow top coat whatever the color is that they need.

I'v lettered them using DacTac, an adhesive backed polyester made for boat sails.
It has a very aggressive adhesive and most premasks won't handle it. I actually used sheets of my removable adhesive bumper sticker stock for a premask. Strips of 2" wide regular masking tape works fairly well too.
Even using this I actually scuffed the tent surface with 600 grit sandpaper to give it a bit more tooth and than when over everything with heat and a rivet brush.
Bainbridge Aquabatten, a sail material provider has a wide assortment of color and widths of this and other similar products. 1-800-422-5684
