Virus Alert . . . ! ! !

Sorry for trying to expose what I felt might be a security flaw. Next time
I'll just keep my mouth shut, as you are the resident expert here !

Sorry, you feel that way,
I am looking to learn something. So I requested that you direct me to more information. I cannot make the connection to the virus and that raises curiosity to a high level. In other words I need to know.

All I did to try and research this issue was do a search for :

C:/windows/_default.pif Invalid program

That's where I came up with the links above.

At the very least it's some sort of exploit that interferes with DOS shortcuts,

NO BIG DEAL I guess . . . I fixed mine, but that's just me.

I understand peoples skepticism, but I like to keep my computer clean and

virus free at all times, I just felt this was worth a look . . . Virus or not !

I guess I should have posted POSSIBLE VIRUS ALERT !

Hey Rep, buddy, I for one really appreciate your intention here. Sorry you don't get the same "vibe" from some of your PC buds.

signage,
I'm with you. I've been a heavy Windows user since 3.1, now on XP Pro, and have never had a virus. I'm online 6-10 hours a day (work and home combined) and I rarely turn my home PC off. I have WinPatrol for cookie alerts, home page alerts and new software alerts and have never had a problem.

Well, I apologize for rushing to judgment with the word VIRUS . . .

I should have just used the word Exploit instead.

My intentions were good . . . even if my wording was bad !

The fix still works and the shortcuts for those of you that have this problem

can take advantage of fixing the issue, probably just a Microsoft screw-up !
