It is loads of fun setting it at max speed and letting it crack on. We do a lot of temporary reflective signage at 1050mm by 750mm that we had to run very slow on the mimaki to get it on the heater long enough to dry.

Took about 14 hours a roll. Now we run that stuff (just black lettering on yellow background) on max speed and it does a roll in about 25-30 mins lol

Yup, our prints are 53in x 147' and the clock shows 22mins! It's crazy fast.

Even the speed setting we created is very close to our 6 pass on the latex and it is around 1200sqft/hr which is 33mins/roll according to the clock on the machine.

This is the file we were printing. Just black and white but significantly faster and the black density higher on the Colorado

Would be good to know the reliability once you hit 200,000sqft. Can you report back then?

we only just recently switched the majority of our production to our 1640, so now it’s running about 95% of our jobs instead of about 60% but should breeze past that pretty easily after April (ish) and no problems so far.

on ink alone (compared to our old mimaki per year vs sqm used) we’ve easily saved about 15-20k, too.

I ran well over 300k sq. ft last year and still cranking rolls out daily and they still look great. Did have to replace the condenser, but it's the first one our tech has ever had to replace and he services quite a large area.

Ours was defective on delivery, our compressor/condenser was replaced after install.

they must send them all out dodgy, we had to get a main board replaced early on lol
I think their QC process is not very good right now.

Once the machine is 100% it is amazing, onyx is causing issues though. Can't use conserve media or it crashes the rip and deletes all the media loaded in Onyx. They are working on it we hear, but we are going to be testing printfactory soon to see if a wholeistic package will help our workflow.

We've have a few issues with our machine too but service has been great and most things have been sorted quickly.

Same here. I don’t know if we’re just lucky or not but engineer comes same day if I phone early enough, next day at the latest.

I also take full advantage of all their machine specialists. Got all their mobile numbers lol

We went with a dealer because they have a 4hr response time for their techs and they have more techs than Canon.
