u sure thats vinyl and not a paper product? if its mean to be used as some kind of branded marking tape, i highly doubt its the typical vinyl, solvent, overlam.

yeah its printed vinyl and lam, but for what he's using it for printed paper or thin plastic would work too, just needs it water proof.
