I'm curious to which brand the majority of sign professional here choose to use for their window perf projects.
Solvex: 50/50 or 70/30 (6 MIL - 54" x 100')
I have used Solvex for many automotive truck back glass projects. The results have been very positive and most every project has lasted over 1-year. It cost about $1.10 per square foot w/o lamination.
Clear Focus: 50/50 or 65/35 (8 MIL - 54" x 100')
I have used this when the client does not mind spending a little bit more money on the project. The media installed much better than the solvex and lasted a few months longer in most cases. It cost about $1.40 - $1.60 per square foot w/o lamination.
Avery 3528: 50/50 (7 MIL - 54" x 75')
I have never used it b/c I did not like the 75' rolls. Although it does claim to have clean removal up to one year. I have not had issues removing other perf brands on the adhesive end and don't think any brand will not leave the trace behind after a few months of the small holes. They are not visible for the most part until you clean the window, then you can see the small holes.
3M IJ8171 (Cast): 50/50 (4 MIL - 54" x 150')
I have never had a client willing to pay the extra money to use this media. This stuff is very expensive and I was not willing to discount my price to accommodate the clients budget on most window perf projects. It cost about $2.15 per square foot w/o lamination.
Oracal 3675: 50/50 (5.5 MIL - 54" x 150')
I always figured 3M would be the most expensive as they normally are in media prices. But this stuff is even more expensive. They do claim that it will last up to 3 years outdoor. I don't know of many companies that would want to run the same stale Ad for 3-Years. I have never tried this media. It cost about $2.35 per square foot w/o lamination.
Flexcon Seethru-Sign STSWBF: 70/30 (6 MIL - 54" x 300')
I recently tried a roll of their automotive 50/50 and their 70/30. It printed great and was the easiest to install from any window perf media that I have used in the past. The only bad thing I had to say about it was that the base color was more of an off-white cream looking color. I'm leaning right now towards stocking this as our primary brand for perf projects. It cost about $1.25 per square foot w/o lamination.
