winplot

I have been running my summa d60 on Window 98 for about 6 months. I use Corel and export into Winplot. The other day I went to cut and the message in Winplot came up as " Failed to Open Device Comm1". The plotter was not fully size up the media either. Re-loaded the Summa driver and I think I got the cutter set up again. Now, when I try to open Winplot a message " A required .DDL file, LASERMARKER.DDL was not found. I talked to Summa and they said that Winplot will not work with Windows 98, but I have been using this setup for 6 months with no problems. I plan on upgrading to xp anyways. Just curious to why it just stopped working now? Any info would be greatlt appreciated.

I'd strongly suggest upgrading to XP and possibly a newer version of CorelDraw.

In the meantime... have you tried to reinstall winplot?

I just installed Winplot (downloaded from Summa site) and got this same message when I tried to open it. I'm running XP.
Anyone run into this?

Perhaps a com driver issue... or setting....have you installed anything recently
besides Winplot, change a setting in the bios???
I would double check com1 settings...

You might have lost the registry entry?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

Try to use “Search” for your LASERMARKER.DDL in Windows.

Once found, copy the File (Right Click and select Copy from the menu)

Copy the File to “C:\Windows\System 32”

Once a copy of your dll is there;

Click on “Start”, select “Run”

Type in the command box:

regsvr32.exe LASERMARKER.DDL

and click OK.

If all is well, windows gives you a massage box.

“Your Lasermarker.dll registered successfully”

At least windows knows now where to find the Dll library.
