Wipers won't come out

So, I got little problem with my Roland RS 640 - it called "motor error" on me, and asked to turn off the machine. I got this 2 or three times during 4 years that I have my Roland, - it does one circle of cleaning after shut down and all is ok.

However, I've noticed little funny sounds while the machine is cleaning, little louder than before. It was NOT after the mentioned problem, but for the past month or so, and I thought it's just little tired :){)) - 4 years is not little time.

I am cleaning head regularly, last time it was 10 days ago, and everything was fine, but today I started manual cleaning to see if the tin cover (just behind wipers, that is easy to move) - is not settled up properly, which could cause motor error.

I saw WIPERS are NOT in their usual place, ready to be cleaned. Then I tried starting "wiper replacement" - and same thing happend, wipers are not "on the open" - they are hidden behind machines hard-cover.
I've checked little encoder behind wipers that actually is moving them - it is, well, THERE, and looks ok to me.
I also tried pushing wipers a little manually, thinking they're stuck or something, but they didn't move.

What can be the problem? Anybody have any experience with this?

ink build-up maybe?
find the mechanism that controls the wiper action. i've pulled some trophies (large hunks of ink, largest about the size of a folded bottlecap) out of the gears on my Jv3 that had built-up over time. A toothbrush and some cleaning solution, and some TLC will also help clear all those parts right up.

wiper scraper

There is a plastic wiper blade that removes ink off the wipers. ink can build up and cause it to hang up. Shot me a pm with your email and I will send you the tech manual.
