X-acto unscrewing

Not so. The new standard knives ( the one that tighten up front ) are garbage. We have plenty of older knives that have been used for years & years without issue, but the newer ones are sloppy knockoffs.

Everything is my fault.
I apologize profusely.

Don't buy sh!t tools. (?)

You said it, sh!t tools, and my point was they didn't use to be.

OK fine. My tools are 30 years old.
Sucks to be new to this game.

I now buy my tools at the swap meet.

ALL of my fish knives are old chef blades.

Sharpened beyond use for them. ½ ground beyond use as a meat knife.
Excellent fish knife. Flex against the back bone and it bends and gives.

I can use a $2 blade for a couple of years and not cry when it flutters away
into the deep blue-green. Lost to the deep.

Take a deep breath.

Before, I said business is a game.
I meant, business is a process.

Read between the lines.

I read you. Good to know there are ol timers still around to learn from.

Ask me anything, anytime.

I show up here every few weeks.

When I am not out getting sea sick.
I have friends with way bigger boats than mine.

I go out with them and still get squeezie.

Hooking big fish makes it all worth while.

Love you, Fred.

and the Gyne. (you call me Stan).

Well the teflon worked great, my installer and I both are much happier. Yes I am a bit heavy handed when it comes to cutting. I've ordered a couple the gripsters to try them out and a snap blade that I'm looking forward to trying. Thank you for tips!

Don't over strong arm it.

I have had X-acto knives unwind like everyone else.

Just ease up a bit.

Not a big deal. Just a tool.

...

We all use the #11 blade.

I only get mine in 100 packs from Pincover Industrial Supply.

As far as a blade holder, X-acto is junk.

I found a great stainless steel blade holder that weighs about 3x as much as a hollow one, and I swear by it.

I modify the back end of them with a crutch that fits my thumb/pointer-finger pocket and keeps the blade perpendicular to the substrate.

They never come loose...
