Xante Printers—Ink Usage and Printhead Replacement

For those who have a Xante X24 or larger, what is your experience with the printhead and inks. The specs indicate the printheads have a lifespan of six months. Are you finding this to be the case? Is it a function of the amount of usage? Or are they smart printheads that automatically stop working at six months?

The inks are rated for two months after opening and have a life of one year from date of manufactures (I've seen other printers where the inks were rated as one year from opening). I'm sure that if you print a lot, there would be no issues. but I could see where you might not be printing a lot of white ink (which I'm sure is the most temperamental) for a time.

Mainly wondering what to expect.

If you bought a Xante, I am sorry. Heads can last longer if treated well and probably to use fresh US made ink (less time in hot shipping environments, the better). Just make sure the ink is rated for an XP600 head. If getting heads, get them from Digiprint, they're WAY cheaper. Same with all of Xante's parts. They're just Hoson kit printers that they charge 5x the value of, but they do a decent job of printing.

Not hard to empty and flush ink bottles as needed, or on a 6-12 month cycle.

Thanks. We haven't purchased one, yet. Still looking at options. What don't you like about it?

Personally, I like the LogoJet for the 36 inch size. And we could not fit (or probably afford) the 4x8 version at our office. But we might be looking at something more like the 55 inch version.

If you got room, snag a Mimaki jfx200 on the used market. Though, they have a bit of a footprint. For smaller, but still fast units, the UJF-6042 Mkii is pretty nice. 4 industrial 2 channel heads.

We are using two Xante X36's one is setup CMYKWWWW the other is set at CMYKCMYK. Both are excellent machines, when compared to the relics we were using, a Compress/Mutoh iuv600, these have been a breeze. We almost run them constantly, I would say heavy use, but I know there are some big fish here, but we do our lionshare on the dual CMYK machine. The heads, we dont ever touch them, just clean around them. We got thru alot of ink maybe a bottle a day at most on Magenta and Cyan, (most of our product is red,white and blue) it helps that we print mainly on white. The Boss and I were just thinking about how easy it has been with these machines running (knock on wood) my suggestion is if you get one, go direct, theres alot of resellers that would rather see you fail than succeed. Coldesi comes to mind as one to avoid. I will check in now and again, hit me up for more info if you need.

With any inkjet printer, the more you run them the better. Stagnation is the enemy, and the more uptime you take advantage of, the less of a pain maintenance becomes both financially and physically.

I would not consider those Mimaki machines fast by any means. They do print good though. We run a 6042 MKIIE and a 3042. We also have a inkcups X5T that prints 4-5 times faster.

i agree, the boss went away for a week and mayhem ensued, took more than basic cleanup to get the xante up and going smoothly again. But its up and going gain and nothing was replaced or changed out. I can say that the heads last longer than 6 months, when you dont touch them, and that this has been our smoothest running machines as far as maintaining image and ink usage..
There are no real complaints other than the fan vacuum table is kind-of weak, but thats minor. i think the boss might be going big time soon with a huge table, crossing my fingers, hoping not to jinx it.

Inkcups printers look like beasts, however, I have yet to see one in person. Not sure how their US support is either, but OKC seems to be BFE for most printer manufacturers/distributors.
