Just looks to be very similar to signs from the early 70's. I just don't have ANY experience with older signs like this, so didn't really want to fork over the $300 if I could get something similar elsewhere for a bit less.
Actually, we just had quite a bit of luck on a local police van that had adhesive from reflective lettering left behind by using a pressure washer. Of course, that was after hours of peeling and hitting the really bad spots with citrus, but I was pleasantly surprised with the pressure wash.
The best advice? Say a prayer prior to removing.
Honestly, the only thing we have ever done that helps in the least is heat the VHB slightly and take a putty knife to scrape off as much as you can. Still get SOME damage obviously, but in our experiences, that has worked the best. A bit time...
