  1. Edge mainboard fuse

thanks matey this machine is "semi" working  supposedly was running fine until just before I turned up on the scene... feels like typical dodgy wiring connection, LCD blank but foil slews. hence past 5d stripping it down and chasing dustbunnies, looks like 21yrs of accumulated fluff...
  2. Edge mainboard fuse

ok have had a sleep to mull it over before revisiting scene of massacre :frustrated: pieced together the remains and sure enough, only writing on endcap is "500mAL250V". Other end is blank apart from usual Stds logos. None of the usual current-day indication whether its Slow or Quickblow...
  3. CMYK Ribbons

Are you already using 3rd party refills for your FX? assuming you've already worked out the refilling logistics (FX ribbon has smaller core than old Edge, so I'm told) then yeah it's worth trying any of the refill suppliers signFoil, ZeroNine, Caxton... each have their fans, they all (can be...
  4. CMYK Ribbons

which machine? Have gone thru several sets of CMYK+W from different brands, find them much of a muchness to be bluntly honest. Half the brands of foil refills are probably manufactured by the other half anyways so there ain't huge differences. On old Edge I get best results from keeping...
  5. I need help with this Edge part PLEASE!

Looks like 2 ferrite bead/tunnels thru which the slew motor wires are threaded thru, not electrolytic capacitors...?
  6. Edge mainboard fuse

Bugger... thought I'd pop the hatches to do some springcleaning and whilst hunting down dustbunnies with the vac managed to smack one of the fuses on the mainboard. Original vintage Edge mainboard, fuse F2 nearest front. Looks like M205 size, 0.5A 250V... does anybody know if its Slow or...
  7. Impossible to cut?

old thread but what the hey, haven't been in here for a long while... :) possible to cut but design is waaay too intricate to last on the outside vehicle exterior would survive longer if mirrored to apply on the inside of the glass print would be best; if they don't like seeing clear...
  8. TV and Movie Remakes

H50 was a bit of a surprise for remake... gee when the original was on, mobile phones were bigger than briefcases & cost more than a car :D A-Team movie... with no Mr T. :( Knight Rider comeback... nice try but didn't bite. heck even Beverly Hills 90210 & Melrose Place, what's...
  9. Question about trademarked logo's.

hard to say, it depends on your purpose eg if you were taking photos for your catalog and there's a Coke(tm) machine in the far rear corner of your picture... Should be OK if you're selling clothingwear. Might not be so ok if you're shooting a Pepsi(tm) ad. :D
  10. One of my customers threatened a lawsuit too!

$100 extra for the explanation - i like!!
  11. Vinyl cutter for automotive parts business

ummm... have done rally car numbers with sharpie on vinyl (Contact bookwrapping) thing... back in 1977. Its quicker to just use masking tape or gaffer tape to line out giant numbers on the car doors or side windows. Ppl still do it at gymkhanas these days... well that's...
  12. Vinyl cutter for automotive parts business

Sounds like there's more $$ in Performance Auto Parts, that's where we should be opening our stores. Tell ya what... you take North, I'll take South and we'll toss for Canberra! :thumb:

  14. Why even bother!!

yes RAID5 will stripe your data across all the discs so that if any HDD fails, it can restore that HDD's data from all the rest (but if a 2nd HDD fails during that restoring period... you're outta luck)
  15. Why even bother!!

I'm not a huge fan of using external HDDs continuously, especially the new slimline type without case fans. These 7200rpm drives get pretty hot (often too hot to hold in your hand) and wrapping them in a tight fitting case is just asking for trouble. My external drives are either...
