  1. Laser cutter engraver questions.

We are primarily an Engraving shop and have had laser engravers for almost 20 years now, almost exclusivly Trotec machines, now an epilog as well. Our main business is lamacoid tags and for those the trotec is far superior to even the epilog, the software allows a much better workflow, and the...
  2. Amazon, UPS, FedEx

Over the last few years Amazon has turned into Ali express, most of the stuff on there is knock off Chinese crap, what do you mean you've never heard of Obeqgehht brand headphones? How about Reewurryb smart phones? I remember hearing years ago that Amazon shopping actually lost money...
  3. Boat/Marine decals

No you can't apply it wet, but with the controltac adhesive you really shouldn't need to.
  4. Boat/Marine decals

I would use a good quality cast vinyl like 3m IJ180cv3 with the matching laminate.
  5. what adhesive laser cut plastic install

3M vhb foam tape is the industry standard.
  6. s80600 new firmware has not silenced loud fan.

You can download the update from Epsons website here: https://epson.ca/Support/Printers/Single-Function-Inkjet-Printers/SureColor-Series/Epson-SureColor-S80600/s/SPT_SCS80600PE There is a firmware updater tool there.
  7. s80600 new firmware has not silenced loud fan.

Same, Epson edge dashboard has always told me that it was on the latest firmware for the last 7 years lol, finally checked the Epson website and updated, I was way behind!
  8. The sound is making me crazy!!!

My s80600 is almost 7 years old and has never made a noise, the only thing I can hear is the suction fans when you first load a roll but they only last a few minutes. Compared to our old Roland printers this thing is dead silent. The Roland's made a very loud mechanical whirring noise as the...
  9. File Organization

That's a really good idea, I do use filemaker for our CMS, but I hired someone to create it for me, I'm not really knowledgeable about developing in filemaker, got any tips? Lol.
  10. File Organization

Like lots of shops I'm sure, I have a huge collection of designs & icons that I have collected over the years, mostly to do with safety signs, parking signs etc. I'm trying to streamline a few processes and I've realized that setting up any type of safety sign takes a lot longer than it should...
  11. Estimate Sign Pricing Software

My understanding is they went out of business recently, but they seem to have not let any of their customers know. There have been a number of similar posts on here in the last month or so. We used them years ago before their software was cloud based, but we couldn't justify the ongoing...
  12. Need Help Laminated stickers peeled and warped/shriked

Cheap vinyl curls and shrinks, just the way it is, use a higher quality material and a matching laminate
  13. Favorite "professional" graphic design idiot stories?

Lol, yup all the time, I imagine them sitting there doing it and thinking I'm an asshole for wanting to charge them $75 to do this for them.
  14. Possible to apply Braille and tactile lettering directly to the wall?

Typical architect lol. In theory you can place the tactile directly on the painted drywall, but the braille beads will fall out, they are meant to be drilled and installed into a hard base like acrylic which has enough strength to hold them in place by friction. Also how to they propose...
  15. Equipment Redundancy - Bad idea to rely on one printer?

If I remember correctly, you mostly make printed wallpapers etc correct? We have a Epson S80600 for the past 6 years and it's a great machine, but the scratch resistance is not great, it's fine for our uses because we laminate almost everything, but if we were printing wall paper I would be...
  16. Raster and Vector Image Customer Rant

My favorite is when I tell them I can victories their logo for $50, then they send me 1 email a day for the next 2 weeks with a different low resolution raster image asking if this logo will work and save them the $50 charge. Even better when it's a large company and the person you're dealing...
  17. Printing on frosting....

I don;t use the air egress frosting films, whatever time you save on the install you loose having to reassure the client that the air egress line will eventually disapear, in a few months.
  18. Printing on frosting....

I haven't found a frosted vinyl that I can't print on with our eco solvent printers. Also, if your client is looking for a budget option for frosting, matte laminate works well and allows more light in, but still blurs everything like frosted film does.
  19. Considering hiring a full-time salesperson. Any advice?

We have had a full time sales person, it didn't work out for us, my advise would be to spend their salary on online marketing.
  20. Care to share your Epson experience?

HP is the only company who measures head life in amount of ink through them. I have no idea how much I've put through the machine in 6 years, lots.
