  1. Bar Code missing Part

That's odd, what program are you using to print from? Is it missing that section from both the front and back barcode? I dont think this is a summa issue, whatever software you are using as a rip that is generating the barcode is messing up. If it started recently, try uninstalling the summa...
  2. "Here, try this one."

We're the same way, our travel card gets enough use to pay for an all inclusive down south every year for the family, we pay the bill off in full every month so it costs us nothing. Now getting the time to take a week off is another story...
  3. Discussion Guarantee cut vinyl banner ?

If you are installing it I would offer something like 6 months, if they are installing it it comes with a tail light warranty.
  4. Question They do it all the time.

Yes!! Part of our business is engraving tags for electricians etc. on multiple occasions I have had client place orders by replying to the last order email they sent me and Have actually ended up remaking the previous order of tags by mistake because it's in the email chain!! It comes down to...
  5. "Here, try this one."

I'm always blown away by the other shops we do work for that have no money in their business account. Did some printing for a wrap installer a while ago, gave us a cheque for the $250 he owed and asked us to hold it till next week before we deposit it.
  6. Gemini is starting to piss me off

I've been using gemini for 15 years and I've never experienced this.
  7. High Heat Vinyl

I just had a phone call with Drytac about this, we do industrial labels for a few clients and the engineers sometimes spec vinyl that withstands very high heat (over 150 degrees Celsius) The only product they have that is solvent printable is an aluminum product like alumigraphics, it's good up...
  8. Suggestions on sub 4' flat bed printer

Those sizes are tricky, most of the small desktop units from roland, mutoh etc are smaller than what you are needing. Printing 24x18 Coloplast signs 1 at a time on these machines is a surefire way to loose money. I would look into a quality wholesale vendor and look at outsourcing them.
  9. Small shop vendor orders

I usually order as needed, I find waiting to place orders leads to things being forgotten. Either that or make 1 day a week your order days, if you don't have the job in by a certain date they either have to wait or pay the shipping cost, lots of industries do this.
  10. Efficiency and equipment upgrades

Ok, before we got the flatbed cutter, we did perf cutting on our graphic, it works, just not ideal for large quantities. I've toyed around with getting a small digital label machine, but I don't know enough about that industry to know what I need lol.
  11. Efficiency and equipment upgrades

Check out the commercial printing sub-reddit. Also, what model of summa do you run? We have a f-1612 and it does the die cut and through cut with ease, and the process is almost completly automated.
  12. Die cutting on FC9000

It's not that slow, to perf cut 25 decals 4x4 I would estimate about 10 minutes if they are simple shapes, but complex shapes would take longer. I remember cutting a few hundred 2"x12" bumper stickers and thinking I could cut them out faster with a knife and ruler. Also keep in mind your...
  13. Die cutting on FC9000

When you say die cut, are you talking about cutting through the vinyl only, or through the vinyl and backer paper? Both are possible with the graphic. Through cutting is done by doing a perf cut then popping the decal out, it works well, but its very slow and I've found it looses accuracy...
  14. HP Latex vs Epson S80600

Yes, if memory serves me it's printed on automark with the matching laminate.
  15. HP Latex vs Epson S80600

Your post reminded me, I printed out an orange and red swatch almost 3 years ago and stuck it on the back fire exit door outside to test the longevity of the orange and red ink in our S80600 because I had heard similar stories. The swatch I'm holding was printed at the same time and shoved in...
  16. Having Trouble With Roland?

You dug up a 6 year old thread to try and sell your services without a merchant membership, nice
  17. Suggestions Looking to purchase first routing table for the shop, suggestions?

I have an F1612 and it's a good machine for 90% of sign shops looking for a digital cutter. The router functionality leaves much to be desired, but most of the limitations are in the software, so hopefully they get improved over time. Cutting 0.080" aluminum is not something I would do with...
  18. This photo app is bananas!

I've heard about the potential issues with this "deep fakes" technology and it's scary! they are now at the point where they can create an extremely realistic video of someone doing pretty much anything, the consequences of that are huge, imagine a bitter ex partner or employee paying someone...
  19. Wrong substrate used, any way to salvage?

We don;t do many of these style of signs, mostly because our city doesn't allow them over sidewalks due to liability, but the few we have done that have gotten permits and exceptions for have all been fabricated from steel and weighed at least 150 lbs and they don't move an inch even in heavy winds!
