  1. 80's prismatic decals how to make?

When you print on prism materials with solvent or eco-sol inks, the prism will show through colors like the pics you posted, you just have to play with ink limits/ number of overprints to get whatever you desire for opaqueness. UV printers will be more opaque, so you can't get the prism to show...
  2. Snow stake cover/driveway markers

Easier way, 1/2" fiberglass reflective marker poles, Rebar rusts quick, and is pretty unforgiving if you hit em' with snowblowers or vehicles, plus once you get snow banks, you probably won't see anything but the top of the pole anyway. An alternative to a full cover is flags on top with their...
  3. Discussion What Squeegee Does Everyone Use

I get em' from cheap wrap tools. They have Teflon and nylon squeegees, 4 & 6 inch, nice suede cover on one edge. They don't sell much, but what they do is good stuff for the price. https://cheapwraptools.com/
  4. I was thinking of picking up a Laserpecker to engrave my banana, thoughts?

Laser bananas, maybe, laser pecker... Ummmm... No thanks :noway:
  5. Tech-Challenged Boss Reconciling Online Purchases

Sounds like he's "old school", thinking how if you go to a store, buy 5 items, you get one receipt, because it all came from the same store. Might be hard for him to comprehend that when you buy from a marketplace like Amazon, when you order 5 items, it's kind of like going to 5 different...
  6. White Spots in black prints

Another +1 on material. Fish-eyes like that normally happen when either the material is contaminated, or a quality issue in the coating. Contact your supplier.
  7. Color lines before and after, Mimaki JV300-160

Yup, just un-check this box, and they go bye-bye.
  8. Wanting Design Software recommendations....!

It's excellent design software, been using it for a couple years. I just export print files as EPS or PDF, open with, and rip/ print in Rasterlink.
  9. Spell Check + Trolling = :)

    My brain hurts now...
  10. Wanting Design Software recommendations....!

Haven't used Corel in ages, but it sounds like the same list I'd be making with Affinity. Everything is just so much faster and streamlined than with Adobe. And cheaper. The only thing missing with Affinity is plugin support for equipment, like cutters. For that I keep one license active for...
  11. Wanting Design Software recommendations....!

If you don't want to pay subscriptions, try Affinity. Been using it for a few years now, does everything I want it to.
  12. Vinyl install toolbox

That's a sweet looking cart, but damn they're pricey!
  13. Vinyl install toolbox

We use mobile job boxes kinda like this, same brand, but this one looks shorter. The compartment in the lid is great for extra blades, knives, and tiny stuff. Has a removable tray inside for small tools, tape measures, tapes, squeegees & stuff. Bottom has plenty of room for bigger stuff, heat...
  14. Discussion Are Facebook ads really worth for running Sign company Ads?

Paying for FB ads doesn't always reach your target audience, and yes, like pw66 said, every other competitor paying for ads will hit the same people the algorithm thinks will fit, so you just made it the same as looking up "sign companies" in a phone book, and paid more for it. Having a FB...
  15. Grainy prints engineer visited

To save ink, just make a smaller swatch of the most problematic color/ colors for testing, or just use scrap material if you have any laying around, that way you won't be using as much ink or media while you're troubleshooting. Since you just had a tech in, and if it does that on all media...
  16. Grainy prints engineer visited

Yes, try some of what garyroy says.... Also, Rolands are notorious for printing more grainy when print temp is too low, and worse for glossy material. Don't remember what temps I used, been a minute since I ran a Roland, but raising it till I found that sweet spot for problem media eliminated a...
  17. No yellow. Very strange

Whenever you mess with cables, make sure the printer is unplugged for a while first. Any stray voltage when you disconnect/ connect them can fry fuses, or a board. Figure that info might be helpful
  18. Mimaki CJV Clean Refresh

We have 2 CJV's and I use nothing but the refresh every hour, that uses virtually no ink. As long as your head caps are good, and if you print daily, that's all you really need. The only exception for me is long weekends, or if I'm going on vacation, then I'll turn the auto clean on, light...
  19. One time ink chips Mimaki SS21

Yes, you can do that. It won't show expired till it's a year old.
  20. Hard wearing mouse-friendly vinyl

I'd consider using something like a polycarb floor laminate over a cast vinyl. Would probably last a lot longer with a mouse sliding across it all day.
