We got sick of the blotchy crap on 8518 and switched to 8418G. Nicer price point than 8518 and even 3220. It still has a bit of blotchiness near the end of the roll but nothing like 8518 consistently has now in every roll.
The only calendared laminate we use/stock is Avery DOL 2080 matte...
I'd tell them your process is just that, YOUR process. If they'd like to hire you, the professional, to do the work you'd be happy to outline the steps after the job is paid for and completed.
Otherwise they can pound sand and figure it out themselves.
That's very strange, can't say I've ever encountered anything like that. Then again, we generally rely on Onyx for our panels and tiling. (I see why you can't in this case, however)
What are your bleed settings in Illustrator / PDF export?
Can you export individual PDF's and just nest them in...
That's good to know, thanks. Don't think the stuff we're using is 5 minute mud but I'll make sure it has time to fully dry before applying vinyl.
That install sounds like fun, I wonder how beat up that wrap is now after getting smashed by the door every day...!
Most of the patches are pretty tiny. There is one corner that was really beat up, gonna take a few coats to get it square again. Client said they would put some kind of corner protector on after so I guess I don't have to be super concerned about adhesion on the corner. Not sure how we'll trim...
We have a few wall wraps ranging from 3 panels to 14 panels that we were planning on installing this week at a client's facility.
Turns out, when they removed all the obstacles from the wall for us they left a bunch of holes. We had other stuff to do today so in between projects I just hit the...
Some good info here. How are you guys evaluating your employees to make sure the pay increase isn't just to cover inflation and is more based on performance? That's something I need to work on soon.
For vehicles we'll only use 3M IJ180cv3 + 3M 8418G. (Even for smaller shape cut graphics)
3M 40C is good for wall wraps, but we don't use it for anything else.
3M 8509..................I don't like it or use it.
I think it's a combination of a few things that's causing this issues, as...
Normally I'd tend to agree BUT......................... we use 3M 40C + Avery 2080 matte for all our interior wall wraps and haven't had any failures/issues. Just about to run a couple rolls worth tomorrow.
Printed w/ UV so it doesn't shrink like heavy coverage solvent prints.
We've built some pretty funky structures over the years, but I can't say we've ever made 4x4 cubes.
What's the intended application/lifespan?
If it's for a temporary event and not going to handled/touched much, you could use 1/2" gator foam and cut the edges w/ a 45 bit/saw, and add internal...
