  1. What laminations do you use?

We got sick of the blotchy crap on 8518 and switched to 8418G. Nicer price point than 8518 and even 3220. It still has a bit of blotchiness near the end of the roll but nothing like 8518 consistently has now in every roll. The only calendared laminate we use/stock is Avery DOL 2080 matte...
  2. "How would you do them?"

I'd tell them your process is just that, YOUR process. If they'd like to hire you, the professional, to do the work you'd be happy to outline the steps after the job is paid for and completed. Otherwise they can pound sand and figure it out themselves.
  3. Laser cutting vinyl?

Yikes, sorry to hear. What's the total cost of those units if down payment was 250k??
  4. Onyx Thrive RIP — issue with masked cut lines

That's very strange, can't say I've ever encountered anything like that. Then again, we generally rely on Onyx for our panels and tiling. (I see why you can't in this case, however) What are your bleed settings in Illustrator / PDF export? Can you export individual PDF's and just nest them in...
  5. Suggestions Installing wall wraps over small patches?

That's good to know, thanks. Don't think the stuff we're using is 5 minute mud but I'll make sure it has time to fully dry before applying vinyl. That install sounds like fun, I wonder how beat up that wrap is now after getting smashed by the door every day...!
  6. Suggestions Installing wall wraps over small patches?

Most of the patches are pretty tiny. There is one corner that was really beat up, gonna take a few coats to get it square again. Client said they would put some kind of corner protector on after so I guess I don't have to be super concerned about adhesion on the corner. Not sure how we'll trim...
  7. Suggestions Installing wall wraps over small patches?

We have a few wall wraps ranging from 3 panels to 14 panels that we were planning on installing this week at a client's facility. Turns out, when they removed all the obstacles from the wall for us they left a bunch of holes. We had other stuff to do today so in between projects I just hit the...
  8. Best Brand of Paint For Wall Wraps

Do you think this product could be used to quickly go over recently patched areas? Like small screw/anchor holes and patches.
  9. New laser cutter cuts HDU into signs

Are you still liking it 10 years later?
  10. Small run vinyl prints needed ASAP

    Where are you located?
  11. Raises?

Some good info here. How are you guys evaluating your employees to make sure the pay increase isn't just to cover inflation and is more based on performance? That's something I need to work on soon.
  12. Hello From Japan

    Welcome from Canada!
  13. Decal stock advice

We like General Formulations 210 HTAP w/ 3M 8418 Gloss laminate. Sticks to ALMOST anything, and doesn't curl/peel.
  14. 3M40c Peeling

For vehicles we'll only use 3M IJ180cv3 + 3M 8418G. (Even for smaller shape cut graphics) 3M 40C is good for wall wraps, but we don't use it for anything else. 3M 8509..................I don't like it or use it. I think it's a combination of a few things that's causing this issues, as...
  15. Large Picture For Wall 24' L X 10' H Where To Start?

Normally I'd tend to agree BUT......................... we use 3M 40C + Avery 2080 matte for all our interior wall wraps and haven't had any failures/issues. Just about to run a couple rolls worth tomorrow. Printed w/ UV so it doesn't shrink like heavy coverage solvent prints.
  16. Channel Letters on "Accordion" Style facades

Cover them up with some nice sign boxes/backers! ;)
  17. Channel Letters on "Accordion" Style facades

Do they have to be installed so randomly or is there some kind of method behind that madness?
  18. Need Help Building a cube out of 1/2" Foam Board

We've built some pretty funky structures over the years, but I can't say we've ever made 4x4 cubes. What's the intended application/lifespan? If it's for a temporary event and not going to handled/touched much, you could use 1/2" gator foam and cut the edges w/ a 45 bit/saw, and add internal...
