I think the choice of typeface should really depend on the feeling or tone the lettering should evoke. What is the lettering going to say? Is it part of a brand name or slogan? Obviously a bold sans-serif typeface will be easier to fabricate than something more ornate. Even among sans faces...
Adobe isn't the only culprit in corporate merger mania in the software industry. Macromedia and Adobe both picked apart Aldus and Altsys in the early 1990's. Adobe didn't absorb everything from Macromedia. Final Cut Pro was originally in development at Macromedia and Apple snagged that and their...
Adobe dominating the graphics space is even more true now than it was 30 years ago. They had multiple credible rivals on the Mac platform back then -rivals with near equal footing. That's not really the case now, particularly in the categories of page layout, photo editing and vector graphics...
When installing CorelDRAW you have to be sure the Windows shell extensions option is checked. That's what allows CorelDRAW to display thumbnails of artwork automatically in Windows File Explorer.
30 years ago the Mac platform was vastly superior to Windows for graphic design purposes. Too many professional level applications were Mac-only releases. Adobe was one of the first credible vendors out of the gate. If you wanted to do professional level digital print design and advertising work...
Illustrator's standard pen tool works just fine in adjusting bezier handles while you're laying down a new path. It's kind of hard to describe some of the added things the InkScribe tool can do above the stock pen tool. If I'm drawing out a path and want to go back and adjust one of the...
Adobe is far from the only vendor offering lower pricing to educators for its software. Adobe isn't doing any more to push their software to educators than anyone else. They're certainly not doing any kind of arm twisting. We have a local vo-tech and it offers a graphics and photography course...
You are reaching big time with a few different factors. First you appear to be assuming Adobe is totally maxed out on its number of subscribers and cannot attract any more users. And this notion of luring people to the next full version? That's a dog currently not hunting. What the hell is Corel...
I don't really agree. That statement implies that full version releases in non-subscription software will always have major improvements. I've seen plenty of non-subscription software offer pretty under-whelming full version updates. CorelDRAW has even suffered in its past few versions, offering...
Adobe's move to selling its software exclusively via Creative Cloud made enough of a difference in its bottom line that its stock price has soared in the following years.
Adobe's first Creative Cloud-only versions of applications were released on June 17, 2013. Their stock price at that time...
Up to who to allow it? Adobe? The Astute Graphics plugins are very much hard wired with Illustrator DNA for how deep they dive into Illustrator functions. I think it would be more complicated porting those plugins to a rival drawing application than it is to create something like a vinyl plotter...
It appears the biggest improvements in Affinity Designer 1.9 are the addition of a contour tool, the ability to use linked images, auto-selecting objects according to certain similar attributes and saving various workspace setups (studio presets).
Most of these features have been in...
Script fonts are the best fonts? Is that statement an attempt to troll a big argument? I, for one, do not agree with that statement at all, especially when it comes to sign design.
Just to double check something, I opened the PSD file you shared. Sure enough, it's nothing but a pixel-based image. And the graphic looks like it was pasted in from another source above the Background layer. The layer with the graphic is named "IMG_5152," which is a pretty odd name for a...
The flat polycarbonate faces in that cabinet probably would blow out before very long if that sign was here in Oklahoma. The wind doesn't mess around in this state. With those narrow retainers, and the way Lexan can flex and bend, the frequent gusts (not to mention severe storms) would pop those...
I would not put flat Lexan in a cabinet as large 5' X 10'; flex is going to be more secure. Pan-formed Lexan faces are good, but it costs so much to order those kinds of faces anymore. The cost to crate and ship the things is just ridiculous.
I've had some slightly annoying headaches with the Creative Cloud installation on my desktop at work. I've had to sign-in to my account to get the Creative Cloud application up and running the first thing in the morning the past two days in a row. Today in the middle of the afternoon it logged...
So...you're running the same license of CS6 on three computers?. If so, that's very likely the problem. Creative Suite licenses (and Creative Cloud subscriptions) typically activate on a max of 2 computers. I definitely know 2 computers is the max for Creative Cloud. If you de-activate or...
Why bother doing that? The vector-based SVG image on the Wikipedia page can be downloaded (as well as some of the other historical US Flag depictions on that page). If someone wants to create a 100% accurate to specifications US Flag from scratch in vector based artwork it's very easy to follow...
