We use our Safety Speed saw all the time. I got a "insert" from the company that I've used for cutting acrylic, but I'm not sure it's necessary. Cutting polycarbonate is a different issue--not sure I've had the right blade and I've done it so rarely I've never invested in the correct blade...
I do have an account with them (although this is my first order). This is a custom order--150 6"x28" 2-sided white lettering, black background ACM with a hole in each corner, all different (and several doubles, 3x, 4x 5x & 15x quantities of other designs). I can't seem to get the people I need...
Has anyone had problems getting a response from Firesprint? I'm trying to get a 200+ sign order through them, but they don't answer the phone, return messages or respond to emails. I'm guessing their busy, but my client is getting heated and I don't know what to tell them.
Make sure the head is clean. Make sure the vinyl is clean (isopropyl). And it helps to use "Edge Ready" vinyl from Gerber, which is supposed to not have the imperfections that produce voids in the printed color. That has not always been the case for me however.
I have a Sprint and S/750 running on a Windows 98 pc (I have a Gerber A-B switch to switch back and forth). I use the machines only for cutting sandblast mask. Lately the Sprint won't cut a job. Sometimes it starts up right away when a job is submitted, sometimes it can take a long time...
I will check out Firesprint.
We can print decals and apply them, but I'm now a 1 person shop and don't have the time. I even tried to pass the job to some competitors and they didn't want to bother. Client still needs the signs though.
I have a client interested in 150 2-sided 6"x28" foamboard signs. All different (same both sides). He would also consider solid ACM if less expensive. Would prefer an 1/8" hole in each corner, but I can drill those if necessary. Don't need to be laminated (will be hanging from a ceiling), but...

Informative discussion. Years ago a local stock car racer raced a Monte Carlo. Chevy at the time was using Warner Brothers' Tasmanian Devil in some of their advertising (he was flying horizontal, hanging on to a wheel well). I figured no one would care, so I took the time to scan it in...
I've found that keeping my hands in my pants prevents this problem from happening. Another benefit is no one wants to shake hands with me, which helps prevent the spread of viruses. It does seem to cause other problems however. Especially if it's not cold out.
Airlines are probably the biggest users of Edges. I wonder if someone snagged a bunch from from an airline auction or wherever they sell stuff lost and never claimed by passengers.
I have a Sprint that I started my business with in 1990. I use it to cut sandblast mask to this day. I've only replaced the roller and the toothed belt. They don't make them like that anymore.
Grimco officially acquired Midwest Sign a couple of weeks ago. Midwest will continue to exist as a "division" of Grimco that sells screen print supplies and equipment.
I've got a couple of ink cartridges in my JV-150 about to "expire". On a previous printer I set the date on the machine ahead 6 months and never had a problem. Anyone know how to get to the date setting on the JV-150?
