  1. Looking to Upgrade my Flatbed Printer

I second the Digitech and SwissQ as well. We are in a similar situation and the Digitech, Swiss and Vanguard are all on our list. You can't go wrong with any of them, its just a matter of what best fits your business model. The Digitech is built like an absolute tank.
  2. Looking to Upgrade my Flatbed Printer

The Vanguard is very impressive. Quality, speed, color and adhesion were all where they needed to be. I can only imagine their support is equally as good as Jim is a stand up guy. He's been in the industry a long time and you don't make it this far without doing right by your customers...
  3. Question What Printer would you stake your business on?

I have the same issues with HP. We have had our 360 for 4 or so years and have been plagued with problems. The worst part of the experience has been the way HP has handled it. They have literally cost us tens of thousands of dollars in wasted material, ink and labor. The service level from...
  4. HP FB 500 usage report

Our 500 has around 700k square feet on it currently, but we had to replace hard drive/motherboard/etc. around the 3 year mark. Considering that reset the mileage on it, I would guess we have run well over 1 million square feet. Still running like a champ. Parts are getting harder to find, but...
  5. Buying a UV Printer, what do you suggest

If you want production, step up to a production machine. These things are toys. We run (2) HP (non latex) flatbeds - 2 shifts - and still need more capacity. We are adding a third machine and are going to make the jump up to something that is a true "production" machine. Always buy more than...
  6. AMG GTR Avery Matte Metallic Night Blue

    Nicely done!
  7. MCT DIGITAL

The MCT looked great and was reasonably priced. The main turnoff I had with them was the training. They wanted to send a tech down to setup up the machine and then I had to send my people to Wisconsin (?) to be trained. I want my staff trained in our environment with jobs running off our...
  8. COLEX Sharpcut vs MULTICAM Digital Express

I completely understand what your saying and agree. We do not do dimensional signage, and if it were our core business the Colex would not be the right machine for us. Can it do dimensional signage? Yes, but so can a hammer and a chisel. I also agree about evaluating the software. Buy...
  9. COLEX Sharpcut vs MULTICAM Digital Express

We have had our Colex for about 2 years now and are pretty happy with it. We run it very hard (mainly routing) for two shifts, 80+ hours a week. We have had several things need to be replaced, but that is to be expected with the amount of through put we do. The software is glitchy and we had...
  10. HP Scitex FB700 Blues printing purple.

Same thing has been happening to us for the past month or so. Blues are printing purple and we have tried everything to correct. Never would have thought HP could make such a big mistake by mislabeling the box.
  11. Need routed foamcore

I have about 600 sheets of 24"x48"x1/2" foamcore drop that I could cut this out of. Would love to unload this material and could make you a good deal. PM specs if interested.
  12. Opinion Buying A Flatbed Printer

All manufacturers/printers on that list are well known and established. Send your files to each company and have them printed on a comparable mode. The most important thing I can stress is to test adhesion on the products. It doesn't matter how good it looks if it doesn't stick. Adhesion may...
  13. Problems with Agfa Jeti 1224 HDC / Onyx

Is the difference in the droplet size (variable)? To me the smaller the dot the smoother the print. It appears to be a larger droplet being printed on the right. We had a problem like this occur years back on a roll to roll machine. It happened when our rip/software was updated and caused an...
  14. Buying a used flatbed printer, good idea? Which one?

All I can say is find a happy medium with speed and quality. We have had our machine about 3 years now and I can't count the amount of times I wish we had bought more machine/speed. Don't get me wrong our HP has been great, but if we had more room we would definitely buy another one or upgrade...
  15. For hp latex owners

It's slow and a complete pain to operate (granted I'm not the operator). I have never seen a machine throw up so many errors, commands, hoops to jump through, etc. It wants to do everything except what it is designed to do....print. The ink technology is great (which I was skeptical about)...
  16. For hp latex owners

Ask them if they will buy ours back.
  17. GS6000 cyan nozzel check/print head issue

Had the same issue with the black nozzle on ours a few months back. Went ahead and pulled the trigger on a new latex. Really wish we still had our old GS6000 as the quality is unmatchable and ease of use is superior to the latex. The new latex is great, but no where near what the Epson is/was.
  18. Will UV digital adhere to UV screened? FB500

Not sure, but we print in that reverse order all the time. UV HP FB500 > UV Screen white backup. Works great. We have had adhesion problems with the white on our printer.
  19. Organization of jobs

100% what Jester said. We have production schedules that are updated and distributed daily. Nothing fancy, but it has deadlines for each department that they go by.
  20. Small Decals Question

We had an L360 installed last week and have spent a few days writing profiles for most of our media. Even when fine tuned to the best of our ability, there is no comparison to the quality on our old GS6000. Like others have said, 12pl is a large drop size and it is noticeable on this machine...
