Meanwhile back in reality. While their men were away lettering windows in a wool suit on a hot August day... After an hour or so of taking care of the finite area of the house, they'd be on the veranda sipping cocktails, gossiping about how dreamy the milk man is, and making "honey-do" lists for...
  2. Diamond/quilting pattern adheasive vinyl look

You won't get a vinyl that's embossed, the only way to replicate that is get embossed metal and paint or wrap it in a matching color. If you just want something that'll resemble it. Make a diamond the same or desired size/ color, add highlights & shadows, replicate & tile the diamonds to the...

My waist grew an inch a year while I was retired... It ain't goin' back down as fast as that since I went back to work :(

Always found it fascinating how back when people rode horses on dusty dirty unpaved streets, before vaccum cleaners, washers & dryers, showers, they always dressed nice... Today we ride in cars with micro air filtration, everything is paved, so sanitary, and we dress like slobs.
  5. Super Noob HANGING SIGN

I live by the "cover your butt" philosophy. All it takes is for a town that's lax to get someone new in charge, and start fining everyone who didn't get a permit, or for anything that's not up to code. Around here, fines are levied per day/ per violation, would rather have a permit, and a signed...
  6. Not entirely sure................................................................??

No... It's not air egress. I use it occasionally, it's pretty thick stuff, great for decals & lettering on flat surfaces, ok for simple curves, but a PITA on tight compound curves. As far as wet applying, don't give it more than a very light mist, just enough to help, not actually wet. Too wet...
  7. Roland VP540 Cleaning when printing

It's been a minute since I worked with Rolands, so I'm going off of old man memory, but if that's off, then it's probably trying to pump up ink. 4 main causes. 1) Wrong aftermarket ink (rule that out since you don't use them) 2) Air in an ink line. If it was that you'd probably have some print...
  8. Roland VP540 Cleaning when printing

There's a setting in one of the menus for Periodic Cleaning, think it's in the sub-menu. Set the value to "none", that should stop it.
  9. Got this complaint....

He's worried about it coming off in a storm or snow? Should bring this guy up here to north central Wisconsin to see how well that "tape" holds up in snow, storms, wind, rain, frost, ice, sleet, +100 to -40 degree temps.
  10. JV33 -DX5 printhead differences

The SS21 inks are in fact eco-sol, that's what we use in our Mimaki. I'm pretty sure (but not positive) that Mutoh and Mimaki use the same voltages, so the connector color is probably the reference if the same part number is listed for both. Those would be unlocked heads, hence the use of...
  11. JV33 -DX5 printhead differences

Even though a lot of printers use a DX5, and they'll fit, you still have to make sure you have one that matches the brand/ model. The reason is some printer manufacturers use different voltages to feed the heads. Some are interchangable, some use encrypted heads, others you can use un-codedd/...
  12. Florida Sign People (you know who you are).

I was getting a little concerned when I didn't hear from her. From what I was watching on live feeds yesterday/ last night, it's a real mess :(
  13. Florida Sign People (you know who you are).

One of my daughters lives down in the Naples area, finally heard from her that she's OK, her place didn't get damaged, but no idea when she'll have power again.
  14. Any walldogs out there?

If it's "smooshy" it might have a spray on urethane barrier applied. Some companies do that when they install commercial coolers, adds a little insulation value, and seals everything. If it is, depending on the product, vinyl and paints might not stick well to it, so test whatever you're going...

After all the years I was retired, I came back to do graphic design and printing, which I do, but with a little engineering in my background things escalated quickly. My first monument sign from concept to completion since returning, hooked to the crane, ready to set it in place. Guess this...
  16. Not the flying cars we were promised but still pretty cool

That is sketchy as heck... I like it
  17. Retirement almost lasted...

His name is Ozzy Pawsbourne Prince of Barkess, and lives like a rock star... He rides like he's in a limo, gotta have the seat cooling or heat on just the right temp, and he passes out. I'm just his driver, I wake him when we get to our destination and hold the door for him :notworthy:
  18. Another One Bites the Dust...

Saw that a couple days ago... Can't make subscription prices lower, but have billions to buy other companies out
  19. Need a little help

My first thought was dust too, I remember all too well having that happen on older Rolands, used to get fine little piece of fiber from banner material get lodged in the metal cap on the head that doesn't remove with just cleaning... Had to use surgical tweezers to get em' out a time or three...
