  1. I am well informed now

So... Is it considered installed if you just throw it in the van somewhere? Asking for a friend ;)
  2. Roland 545EX downgrade firmware to SC540

Sounds like a setup issue. When selecting the printer in color rip, select what the actual model is. If the serial number is for an SC540, then try that. There were several different 540's too, had an SC540EX Pro-II years ago, thee had the base SC540/ an SC540EX/ the EX Pro-II/ a 540EXW... Also...
  3. Cutting coroplast sign board

CNC routers don't work good for coroplast, the material just melts when the bit gets hot, and usually leaves chatter marks. If you use a CNC for coroplast, use a drag knife instead of the router. Or invest in a flatbed cutter, they're a fraction of the cost of a CNC, they excel at this type of...
  4. Need Help LEF-12 /problem using white ink on black products

You're doing it right. Printing on black, you won't get full white coverage with a single hit. Depending on the printer and substrate (some just do better than others) it'll often take 2-3, or more layers of white to get full coverage. Think about just painting something black with white, it...
  5. Question Lightbox Printing Questions

We use a variety of methods based on the need. For ones with good LED lighting I'll sometimes do the white polycarb panel with printed translucent on front, same/ mirrored on back, and it works good. If it's an older refacing with not so good lighting, I'll do clear mirrored on the back. This is...

  8. Anybody use Mac?

If it's coming out of your pocket I'll take a Mac Studio, if it's out of mine, nah... pass. I use both Mac and PC, they're all good today. Back in the early days when digital graphics was a new emerging technology Mac was hands down the best, but today the playing field is pretty level. A Mac...
  9. Rant UCJV300-160 print carriage major design flaw?

Back when I used to work with a Fujifilm UV flatbed, had an ink line start leaking over a weekend onto a painted concrete floor. By the end of the weekend the puddle was about six inches in diameter, and it turned the urethane paint on the floor into snot in that spot. There are reactive things...
  10. Retirement almost lasted...

That's exactly what I set out to do, if I'm going back to work I just wanna help out in something I'm familiar with, love doing, and I couldn't ask for a better gig. They've been in business over 50 years, busy, yet laid back. I even bring the dog to work with me.
  11. Input on choosing a new printer

I wouldn't use them on the EcoSol models either. Tried & died in my experience. Results were hit & miss, usually way below expectations. If you don't use them every day those high solid white/ silver inks end up in the waste bucket because they have to keep circulating & moving or plug up lines...
  12. Retirement almost lasted...

I did enjoy it while it lasted... My wife, not so much. In reality I'm actually happy to be workin' again.
  13. On a scale of 1 to 10

I've been playing drums for 60 years, all I ever hear is a phone that's constantly ringing... Will someone please answer it?
  14. Input on choosing a new printer

Absolutely spot on. I've gone down the rabbit hole of trying solvent whites, near impossible to get results you desire. UV is the way to go.
  15. Retirement almost lasted...

Was once a member until I retired in 2016. Mama finally decided she wanted me out of her hair, one of the oldest sign companies in the area just happened to need someone to design and print. So, here I am, back in the saddle for another round. I still see names I remember, and it's great to be...
  16. Substrate question

We do a lot of installs like that using aluminum frames, and aluminum composite panels like ACM and Dibond. Up here in the north we get temps from -30 to +90, a lot of high winter winds, all the brutal to sign weather, and they hold up really well. Old skool rules.
