  1. gross thick banding lines on both(!?) printers?

I'll give that shot next time the banding appears. Thanks! I used to download profiles from roland for each media type I was using, but so many of the Arlon and Orafol ones produced really crappy colors. Talked to someone in application dept at Roland, and he suggested Generic 1 v2 profile. We...
  2. gross thick banding lines on both(!?) printers?

Some kind of tension related problem with the feed is one of the working theories. We've tried not using the the take up reel, and have still seen the issue, but I haven't tried it loose on the other side. I'll give that a shot today. Thanks!
  3. gross thick banding lines on both(!?) printers?

WOW. That's crazy. The profile I've been using is the Versaworks default, (Generic vinyl 1 v2). Is that what you mean by generic, or is that a standard roland profile? it doesn't have the word roland in it, like some that I've downloaded, but it did come with the program.
  4. gross thick banding lines on both(!?) printers?

Not really. Sometimes it's one big line, sometimes a series of bands that kind of taper off
  5. gross thick banding lines on both(!?) printers?

We've been having this issue on our Roland VG-540 for some time, and also with our new VG-2 pretty much right out the box. These big thick horizantal bands that will appear sometimes just once on a print, sometimes a few times, but always at a random spot. This issue comes and goes...

  7. Need Help What are these pink lines? (pics)

Our pretty new Roland VG-2 just started printing these little "halo's" along the outside edges of the prints. The feed calibration and media gap adjustment (bi-directional) are all calibrated. Nozzle tests are good. The user manual doesn't suggest much beyond those two adjustments. Any insights...

  9. Need Help Color Nightmare

Thank you Solventinkjet! downloading some arlon and orafol profiles now. As far as creating our own profiles, where do I begin? Is it better to invest in erqupment and do it ourselves, or hire someone to do it? If hiring out, I assume someone would need to come here to work on it? We're a few...
  10. Need Help Color Nightmare

Thanks, I'll look into building some profiles. In the meantime, I have a bunch of downloaded profiles from rolanddga site (1 specific for each media we use) are there other places to get canned profiles?
  11. Need Help Color Nightmare

We've been dealing with an issue with our Roland TrueVis VG-540 pretty much since we bought it. We can't get it to print a deep popping red. (pr42k). it always comes out an unattractive pinkish. Even when we print out the Roland Color Chart, it goes from dull copper to pink, with no firetruck...
  12. Need Help What are these nasty green lines? (pic included)

The lines are always horizontal. What's ink starvation? Is that a cap top issue?
  13. Need Help problem printing onto reverse micorperf.

I'm trying to print a window graphic onto some "reverse microperf", the stuff where the adhesive is exposed, and you print directly onto it, then stick to the inside of a window with the graphics being readable from the outside. It gets a little bit of the way into the print, then quits, giving...
  14. Need Help What are these nasty green lines? (pic included)

These lines have been showing up in my prints sometimes. Doesn't seem to happen when printing rows of stickers or things like that. But if the print is a large (usually dark?) area, like an expensive vehicle wrap, these show up at the darndest times. This is on a Roland True-Vis VG-540. We...
  15. Need Help Scan Motor Error? Printer currently dead in the water

hmm, is that different from the limit initialization process? What's the steps for an encoder check? appreciate it!
  16. Need Help "Color matching" using two different printers

This is a fun one. We're in the middle of a full wrap on a big food truck. About half of it was printed, when our 12 year old Roland XC-540 took a dump. Needs parts and a tech can't get to us for a while. It's looking like we're gong to need to finish the job on our 2 year old Roland True Vis...
  17. Need Help Scan Motor Error? Printer currently dead in the water

Thanks I'll try that now. It says Move To Cap Position. I slide it home, hear the click. At this point I can still slide it the other way, but I don't. Then I press enter. Then it says Setting Up The Limit. Now it's locked in position. I can feel it. I press enter. You can see the carriage...
  18. Need Help Scan Motor Error? Printer currently dead in the water

Interesting... That could be where my problem is coming from. I just went into Limit Initialization, it says Move To Cap Position, I slide the carriage home until it clicks, and hit enter, Printer says Setting Up The Limit, I make sure the carriage is all the way home, and hit enter, but as of...
