  1. Argument for latex? Especially for home based business..

to me, this question reads like "among the dozens of considerations, here's 3 reasons I think I'm right... am I right?" ...so, to reply, yes I think you are right on the 3 considerations! Would I plan a business, or an equipment purchase decision on a small percentage of the relevant...
  2. Last batch before I leave the trade.

good luck James! (Nice looking last batch)
  3. My design used by Nickelodeon?

of course they didn't... they said "t's hard to get rich doing *insert "SIGNS"* and then they switched careers!
  4. Need Help Pricing out a job please

same as ProWraps, I've always turned down this high risk, low profit opportunity... I have a decent laminator, but it still eats prints from time to time... I hate the hell out of that lowering my profits, but if I ended up shelling out cash for the chance to help another printer who doesn't...
  5. PS shape burst in Illustrator

    Nice!!
  6. PS shape burst in Illustrator

I'm not sure what the term means even, but I know what an outer glow looks like... and it usually doesn't look like a vector, so what's the significance of specifying illustrator, if you like the effect in photoshop? Is it because you are asking for a vector, or is it that you don't have...
  7. Using quickbooks for Mac on multiple computers? Will it allow 3 installs?

Wow, what kind of shopping are we talking about, Craigslist, or new software? I paid $250 yesterday at best buy, which I'm sure I could return (here visiting my mom in Chicago this week) and I spoke to Intuit, where it was confirmed that I can run the software on 2 computers. They also...
  8. Using quickbooks for Mac on multiple computers? Will it allow 3 installs?

Merry Christmas everyone!! I've been using QBP on my PC's for 15 years, and have it loaded on a half dozen machines for my convenience. It's never open on 2 machines at once & I'm careful to keep track of the one up to date file, whenever I open it elsewhere. Anyway, my brother and I are...
  9. what is best way to attach coroplast to a brick wall?

duct tape :) looks better than coro, IMHO :Big Laugh otherwise, I'd expect the fasteners you've used in the past would be best. Most aggressive adhesives (like liquid nails, or similar) leave a clean-up mess, or cost a lot, like 3M VHB tape...
  10. Excessive charge by a dealer for service.

EXACTLY!! I didn't feel like taking the time to mention that, but I'd never leave that open. I'm in Hawaii, so no stranger to expensive service calls :omg: ...but I always know most of my costs up front, except for the fact that the amount of time (hours or days is not known for certain...
  11. Excessive charge by a dealer for service.

well, I'd "complain" to them that their pea-brained idea of ripping people off to prevent complaints, CLEARLY wasn't working, so if they would kindly revise the invoice to something reasonable, I would quit complaining & pay the bill. Who knows, this new approach may actually go further toward...
  12. New Pyromedia site just launched, let me know what you think

premature too.. :Big Laugh (better early than never)
  13. Design a sign package AKA Sign Criteria

The federal govt says if you are 21, you can buy beer... but states can impose further restrictions, like no alcohol sales in New Mexico on Sunday, or no alcohol after 11pm in Hawaii... States can't say "alcohol is allowed for 16 yr olds" because that violates federal law, but states CAN enforce...
  14. help with my dad

    +1
  15. help with my dad

I didn't check out 704's one, but I agree with TXFB in that you can make this thread a chance to learn about the consultation part that is at least half the battle in selling graphic design work. People here can take wild stabs in the dark just like you can, and we all know there's some kick...
  16. Mimaki CG-130 FX 'ERR36 MARKdetect' *PLEASE HELP*

ah yesss.... the old sensor wiggled outta place trick.. I hate when that happens!! Congrats & enjoy!
  17. Mimaki CG-130 FX 'ERR36 MARKdetect' *PLEASE HELP*

regarding buying a new sensor, I had to buy one for my mimaki printer, to detect material width... it was probably 5 years ago, so memory is vague, but i think it was only $30 to $40 and a breeze to install. (I also remember that when I went to install it, the old one was coming loose & not...
  18. why have I been using medium tack premask all these years?

AM I IMAGINING THIS, OR DID I SEE NOBODY MENTION TRANSFER-RITE? Transfer-Rite is all I've ever used, and always high tack (except for clear tape I've used R-Tape)
  19. Mimaki CG-130 FX 'ERR36 MARKdetect' *PLEASE HELP*

WHERE'S THIS "SELLER" NOW? CAN'T HE HELP A BROTHER OUT? so, after the error, you've now tried hitting "enter" again... a time or two? I can't see where the right pinch roller shows up in the video, but I guess two other guys spotted it, & thought you should move it out, and I agree that...
  20. Mimaki CG-130 FX 'ERR36 MARKdetect' *PLEASE HELP*

I think cleaning the sensor is not going to help. That same sensor has been working in the previous task that it performs properly. do you send any cuts not on printed material? Just curious if this cutter is so new you have never seen it cut yet?
