  1. Flexi subscription opinions needed

Yes I took a file...a pantone chart and then compared it with my current chart. Print is nicer
  2. Flexi subscription opinions needed

My Signlab is really only for cutting only and has no print functions... When I purchased our first Mimaki it came with photo print and the dealer was not a Signlab dealer. The transition was fairly simple so I would like to stick with what I know so the changeover to a new printer, new...
  3. Flexi subscription opinions needed

I have a new Mimaki printer coming this morning. I need the transition to be fairly smooth to the new machine ( although I know that can never happen lol) . I currently use Signlab for my day to day sign work. I set just about everything up in Signlab and then export as an eps to the print...
  4. Best cutting ruler? NOT ALUMINUM!

I have a 48" staedtler stainless steel straight edge I bought 30 years ago for about $100.00. I think I use it almost every day. Knife blade does not get stuck on it and the metal sort of contours to the substrate, unlike an aluminum edge which will not bow at all. I did add some of that...
  5. overspraying cyan but not when I actually print blue?

Here are 3 pics...2 are pretty blurry and those are the ones with the overspray, yet this handicap decal I printed today is absolutely clean!! Strange but true
  6. Question laminating issues with Alupanel and Max metal from Grimco in Toronto

I buy from the same branch but have not experienced what you are getting. I would think if there was an imperfection in the material you would easily see it before putting in the laminator.. Tha laminator in the pic looks like a manual version that you hand crank? Could you be rolling it too fast?
  7. overspraying cyan but not when I actually print blue?

OK worth a try, How do I indrease the drop size? Is it the variable option?
  8. How do you guys deal with these black rubber lines on vehicles

Just about every truck we were on now have on one side the black rubber line between panels..They are about 3/16 thick and are depressed in a bit. I am never sure if I should just leave the vinyl going over them or do I cut them. I can't see the vinyl really sticking properly so cutting them...
  9. overspraying cyan but not when I actually print blue?

It is very strange. My old Mimkai jv3 is on the way out. I am waiting for my new Mimaki...but in the meantime I still need to print.. I have been getting this overspray around certain colours using cyan ink. It's the sort of thing you don't really see unless you look close or with reading...
  10. Mimaki print cut or print only

went for the demo yesterday and basically decided to go with the print only single head.... Price is decent. The machine prints better than mine so that's a plus. What I am a little concerned with is that these new machines are not vented. I have venting with an exhaust fan built into the line...
  11. Mimaki print cut or print only

Saw the OKI at the show last month...pretty pricey and prints great but they had it set for 8 colour and I will stick with CMYK
  12. Mimaki print cut or print only

Thanks guys for the input. I will more than likely go for the print only. Does raster link support the Summa? and what about software, do I have to upgrade that as well? I have been using Flexi print and cut for 12 years..I know it, understrand it, don't love it, but I don't want to have to...
  13. Mimaki print cut or print only

If you saw all the processes and tricks I use to get it to see that first reg mark, you would wonder how I figured it all out, but after 12 years and a few hissy fits I have come up with about 6 things I can do and eventually one will work. I have examined the reader and all I can figure is...
  14. Mimaki print cut or print only

My JV3 is basically in hospice care right now...every print job is an effort to fight banding and overspray... I have decided I will go with another Mimaki . Just curious for those that have them, how does the print and cut work? Is it reliable or a pain in the butt? I have a Summa d-140...
  15. removing overspray

Just me and my and my almost dead Mimaki again. Printed 10 banners for retractables and see a ghosting overspray around one image (bitmap). I am not reprinting as the overspray is very faint but up close you can see it. It is only on one object on the banner and completely surrounded by white...
  16. Steamer Vinyl Remover

steamers work pretty good although sometimes they can seperate the adhesive from the vinyl making more use of rpaid remover, but still prefer working with a steamer over heat gun where possible
  17. Looking for a new printer....need your opinions

No sorry, never had a Mutoh.... I like the sound of an Epson, but I figure I have maybe another 4 or 5 years before I decide to pull the plug and they are pretty pricey. If I go with a Mimaki I think I get a decent deal with trade in, although I have no idea why they would want an old clunker...
  18. Looking for a new printer....need your opinions

Guys, I really appreciate the input here.... I have a lot to think about.... Definitely need to check out the Epsons
  19. Looking for a new printer....need your opinions

I mostly print and lam using General Formulations calandered vinyl with a 3ml laminate, and have a summa d-140 cutter ( worse opus reader ever). I will generaly go through maybe 2 or 3 rolls of wrap film per year and not really for wraps, just want a good vinyl for vehicles. I guess I want a...
  20. Looking for a new printer....need your opinions

My 12 year old Mimaki jv3 is just too troublesome these days and I think it is time. I am not excited about having to switch out a printer the way I would have been 10 or 15 years ago. I want to know that I won't have to re-educate myself too much switching printers as I don't have the time to...
