  1. Inspectors using company equipment for access

Agreed...his job is to inspect - he should have the equipment to do his job. It can be explained nicely that for insurance reasons, no one else is allowed to use your ladder or equipment or tools. And if your sign is installed correctly, there shouldn't be anything to pick apart anyway...even if...
  2. Inspectors using company equipment for access

There's not a chance I would let them use my equipment.
  3. Building a sign box with VHB tape

Some of the responses almost seem to indicate that manufacturing a sign cabinet with VHB, welding, bolts, etc. has to be an "either/or" scenario. The point, again, is that there are obviously limitations to what the tape will hold. Tape, stitch welds, rivets, screws and bolts all have failure...
  4. Building a sign box with VHB tape

It's not used on large signs all by itself. The OP didn't specify what size cabinet he's building, but on smaller cabinets, when customers specify "no visible fasteners", there are certain instances where a sign can be partially or wholly assembled with VHB tape. Again... It depends on the...
  5. Building a sign box with VHB tape

Because, when used properly, it's a fast and proven method of building a sign.
  6. Building a sign box with VHB tape

It's done frequently. Whether or not you use strictly VHB tape or you use VHB tape along with stitch welding or other supporting attachment methods depends on the size of the sign, it's exposure to winds, engineering requirements, etc.
  7. Hanging Dibond - Attaching Hangstrips Question

The thing I don't like about using a liquid adhesive on French cleats, is if any adhesive oozes out the bottom, it causes a high spot when you hang it on the mating piece. For one or two pieces, it would be ok and you could wipe or chisel off the excess. But with the quantity you're doing, I...
  8. Decorative Dimensional Sign

    Nice job, Phillip!
  9. Curved aluminum

I would manufacture it with a couple of cleats. You could stud-mount it, but that poses two potential issues: - You would be attaching studs to a curved surface. - Studs don't allow for any adjustment. If you use a cleat, you can slide it so it butts up directly against the adjacent panel.
  10. .040 aluminum ENTER sign

Looks good! Picture 5 is the "Hang on the sign by your feet to show how well it is attached" technique.

  12. Vinyl for Barricade install

Is printing an option? Printed Sintra goes up a whole lot quicker than vinyl. These are some recent ones I installed...
  13. mounting 6mm sintra to walls

    ...or levitation strips...?
  14. mounting 6mm sintra to walls

The Command Strips aren't suggested for use on wallpaper. If the customer doesn't mind damaged wallpaper, I would use 1" squares of VHB tape (add a few dollops of silicone if they really don't mind damage). If they want minimal damage, it depends on what material you're hanging, but I guess at...
  15. mounting 6mm sintra to walls

The panels below are Gatorfoam and Sintra mix. They're all hung with Command Strips.
  16. Craftsman Nextec 12v Drill, Right Angle Impact Driver, Batteries, Charger

For sale is the drill (top), the right angle impact driver (right), the USB charger (bottom), two batteries, the battery charger, and the bag. The inflator and oscillating tool and one of the batteries has already been sold. The impact is very impressive for the size (700 inch pounds of...
  17. Rockwell H3 SDS Rotary Hammer Drill Combo & SoniCrafter Oscillating Multi Tool - NEW

I purchased this to carry as a backup to my DeWalt stuff on my truck and have literally never used it since I've accumulated so many DeWalt batteries. So these have basically just sat in the bag. This obviously isn't going to replace a higher-end pro tool, but it would serve as a great backup...
  18. DeWalt 20v Max Impact Driver, Batteries, Charger

I recently upgraded to the brushless model, so I no longer need this. Includes two 3.0Ah batteries, charger, and bit holder. Other than the cosmetic blemishes, everything works perfectly. I'm asking $150.00 shipped to the lower 48.
