  1. Alternative To Shopvox?

We converted from Signvox to Shopvox about a year ago. The transition was pretty painful, as would transitioning to any new software program. I agree there are too many clicks, I hope they improve upon that. Over the last year I have seen a lot of good improvements. I don't think I could say...
  2. 6' X 20' Lighted Sign Graphic, Production Ideas.

Indy Imaging offers a nearly invisible overlap on their backlit prints Invisi-lap — Tiled PSV Overlap Information
  3. Am I crazy, or is there no 64 bit version of Flexi?

Do you have too many fonts installed? Fonts can slow a system down big time.
  4. Software Help Shop management software

To provide an update to this response, Shopvox has upgraded their server and the response time is night and day faster now. This is a very positive sign. It makes doing quotes much more enjoyable.
  5. Suggestions HP Latex vs Mutoh

I would say stick with what you know. If your Mutoh has been working great for 8 years, then get another one. We have a 360 Latex printer and I think it is great. But it's not perfect. No outgassing is it's greatest benefit, but it sounds like you have that figured out already.
  6. Software Help Shop management software

We used Cyrious SMS / Control for 10+ years. It was very complex (Control) to set up, and usually required paying large "implementation" fees to get it to do what you want. Bottom line for me was that it was very expensive software that was very outdated. I personally love the cloud - it...
  7. Halo Letters

It sounds like you have never made these kinds of letters before. I would recommend you wholesale them out a few times and study the finished letters closely so you can learn how to do it yourself. I would definitely not recommend using PVC or HDU for backlit lettering. I would be concerned...
  8. Employee Raises?

As an owner, I have a little different perspective. I would recommend you approach the situation professionally and not show your frustration or anger. I am not excusing what your boss has done, it is very wrong. You should approach him/her and be courteous but direct "I have asked for a...
  9. Should I Buy HP L280 104"?

I would not recommend buying this machine. I have this exact machine. First of all, you are paying for the extra width. Will you really be printing on wider medias? IMO, the Latex printers excel at printing on adhesive vinyls, but lack in printing on specialty medias and banner material...
  10. Black paint that would adhere to digitally printed mesh banner material?

Indy imaging sells double sided mesh banner. Just have them print black on back side.
  11. Mimaki UJV55-320

I have my eye on this machine. I am curious to hear feedback from owners. $80k is what I saw at the ISA show.
  12. Corebridge

I do not use the proof review feature in Shopvox. IMO it is too cumbersome. We are a really small shop. For most of our projects I am sending a quote along with a proof, so I just attach the proof as an "asset". It is not quite as slick (no customer feedback or approval buttons), but is much...
  13. Trying to match this ADA sign frame/insert

(Standing on soap box) We run into this a lot. Some business or facility purchased their ADA signs from some far away place that has no interest in the smaller follow up orders. Then we are forced to match their goofy sign. My philosophy is that we match it as best as we can, but it just might...
  14. Guides / Walkthroughs on Routing Printed images with out a Camera alignment System

Our i-cut system died and is no longer supported, so we are in the same boat. We fit all objects in, say a 48x96 box, then register the router head to the lower left corner of the sheet. It's not perfect, but pretty good for most work. File setup is a pain for lots of pieces. Almost always...

  16. ShopVox - I cannot enter new customers

I've never had that problem. It will always login fine, but it kicks me out of the other location. It is rather annoying. A few times I have lost a little bit that was entered in and not saved yet. I suppose the purpose is to prevent sharing 1 login with the whole shop. I wish there was...
  17. Painting Pressure treated posts, just had a failure

Treated wood posts are a total crap shoot. I will not stake my reputation on them. We only use clean cut cedar posts for wood, or aluminum posts for long term use.
  18. ShopVox - I cannot enter new customers

Are you sure that when you scroll up, something isn't highlighted that's missing? This happens to me all the time. Seems it should be more intuitive, like a pop up box. Shopvox requires a lot of screen real estate. Before we switched to Shopvox from Signvox, they advertised a "read only"...

  20. Anyone use Mactac (or another brand) frosted vinyl with air release?

Interesting. You use Oracal 210 matte overlaminate as a frost vinyl? I have found that the 210 matte laminate as well as Mactac Frost vinyls do not hold up well long term outdoors. Must be something about the matte texture that absorbs more heat/sunlight.
