Thank you everyone! I had heard of Vector Doctor before, actually I recall hearing good things.
Apparently I was using the wrong email address for Viking, somewhere along the lines it must have changed or something. I am getting quick service again.
I still don't like that my phone call was...
I've used Viking Arts for probably 15 years to clean up logos and bad artwork. Up until the last few months, I have had flawless service every time. Something is up with these guys - very slow response time, will not return calls, etc. They have been so great, I have never even looked at the...
I think you have your answer. Bad reputation (or none at all, we've had CNC machines for 15 years, never heard of shopsabre) and no demo. I would highly recommend a 4x8 bed, I guarantee you will regret it later if you don't.
I've learned in purchasing equipment over the years that "local" service is not necessarily good service. I've had a Multicam 1000 for about 12 years. I've not been impressed with service and support. They are very reluctant to come on site. Our icut does not work and they will not do...
This is part of a large project we are doing. The architect is spec'ing Di-Noc, but I will be offering an alternative (probably a good cast vinyl with dry erase lam). I think once they see the price difference, it will be a no-brainer for them. I just wanted to have my ducks in a row if they...
Yes, you are right, but $8.99 x 170 ft = $1,528.30 for shipping. Ouch. I found their direct website, maybe I'll just try calling to see if I can get better pricing.
Player - I did see that source. It is still about $7k of material. I'm not comfortable spending that kind of money with someone I don't know anything about.
I have a project calling out for this material. It is a white dry erasable material. It seems 3M vinyl dealers don't carry it and can't get it. A 3M rep referred me to Designtex, and they are the only US distributor. They quoted over $14/sf, no discount for whole rolls. I found a source...
I agree with a lot of the wisdom that has already been said. When you are small and used to doing things yourself, it is hard to spend the time to document all the details. We include a "blurb" on all of our artwork files that includes all the details (vinyl and lam used, substrate, etc)...
Thank you for the help guys. I will check out those brands listed and get some more quotes. I have no interest in buying used. I plan to get 10+ years out of this machine, so spending a little more to hit the ground running with proper training, long term support, etc is well worth it to me...
I'm looking for some advice from anyone who has experience with smaller engraving machines and making raster Braille ADA signs. We have a 60x120 Multicam router, so we are not in need of heavy CNC routing capability. Our old Gerber Dimension router has died and we am looking to replace it...
I think you are doing it correctly. You don't want any downsampling. What is the rez of the linked PSD files (go to Window-Links)? Since you are at 10% size, it should be at least 500-700dpi (since it is being blown up 10x), otherwise it will look bad when output.
It is inevitable that Signvox will die. I don't believe Rao is being realistic when he says "Signvox is here to stay". There is no way a platform can survive without adding any new users. The Signvox user base will only continue to shrink as people either leave Signvox or migrate to Shopvox...
Moss can do it mossinc.com
Expect pricing to be several times the rate of standard covers.
Not sure if Orbus will do it or not, they would probably be less.
I'm not familiar with Ferrari media, but it definitely sounds like the liquid laminate is reacting with the media. You could contact Ferrari and see what they recommend. Probably need to find a new laminate or new media.
Pat - thank you for the tips. I'll try calling Dreamscape next week to see if they have any wisdom.
Dtay - I was never comfortable solvent-printing wallpaper. I never got any complaints from customers about smell, but all it takes is one person....
