Software - I think it's called "climb" when you reverse it.
  4. help requested in routing .040 aluminum license plate blanks

Routing aluminum was my least favorite thing to route for all the reasons you mentioned. Holding it in place was always a hassle and I hated setting the mister up. It would make a mess of the shop and I would always forget to reverse the cut direction leaving a gnarly edge. Somethings that I...

    Maybe grow a mullet? :)
  6. Fills?

Phil Collins has some pretty decent CD's but I don't think he sings about checkerplate or woodgrain.

  8. what do you pay for electricity?

Here's a couple of links to the threads about our project: http://www.signs101.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67165&highlight=SOLAR http://www.signs101.com/forums/showthread.php?t=71833
  9. what do you pay for electricity?

We're between $30 and $125 for 8,000sf of space per month since we've installed our solar panels. Before that, we were $500+ per month.
  10. Sun Powered - Solar Project Update, No net power use in September

Yeah, it's definitely not for everyone. In our case, the ROI is going to be about 2 years considering the rebates, tax incentives, SREC's and energy savings. The other thing to consider is that your power bill is $150 a month NOW. My guess is that we're all going to see that number climb.
  11. Sun Powered - Solar Project Update, No net power use in September

We had no net power use but we do use power when there's no sun. When we generate more than we use(on sunny days), the meter spins backwards. So we "borrowed" their electricity until we could give it back. To be hooked up to their grid, that's the minimum charge for having that convenience.
  12. Sun Powered - Solar Project Update, No net power use in September

Just a quick update on our solar project that I posted about here: http://www.signs101.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67165&highlight=SOLAR We just had our first month where our net use was 0 kWh. We've also registered to sell SREC's through SRECTrade in Pennsylvannia. We've been generating...

Someone should clone Brush Script in all caps and name it Godawful.
  14. Tip on Getting Hired as an Employee

We put an ad on craigslist and "promoted" it from our Facebook page. We got over 10 responses in just two days and I took the ad down. I know my original post had a complaintive tone but I have to say that there are very good quality people looking for work right now. Now's a great time to...
  15. Tip on Getting Hired as an Employee

If you are looking to to get hired, I have the following suggestions: Follow the directions in the ad that you're responding to. If the employer says "no phone calls", then don't call. If they ask for a resume, then send a resume, not an email saying you're interested in the job. Make sure...
  16. Buy and/or sell "used" fonts?

I found that also. RoadGeek is fine for proofing purposes but not for production. Download it and zoom in and you'll see what I mean. Even if it was crisp, I couldn't take the risk because the client is a government agency and it just wouldn't be worth the risk.
  17. Buy and/or sell "used" fonts?

Yeah, if I could buy a legit version for $45, then this would be a moot point. After I posted, I found and read the EULA. Here's what it says about transferring the license: Except as may be otherwise expressly provided for herein, you expressly agree not to rent, lease...
  18. Buy and/or sell "used" fonts?

I'm doing some work that requires Clearview, which is pretty spendy. I was wondering what happens if I buy the font and if this particular job dries up, could I sell it? On the flip side, if someone else has the font and doesn't need it anymore, could I buy it from them? Please understand...
  19. Do you consider your local competion friend or foe?

Mostly friends. There's one guy that's pretty shady that I steer clear of but other than him, it's a pretty good group in our area.
