  1. Epson S60600 maintenance

We can print within an inch of the end as well. I usually drop it a foot though... Latex prints over hand prints nicely, which is ironic because you like 2-3 ft of printing so that doesn't help. Solvent .. I get a nice perfect finger print right at the start... And I'm too lazy to use gloves...
  2. FB700 loses network static IP, have to restart printer to get it talking to the RIP again

Never been a fan of direct connections. Are you using a regular ethernet cable... Or a crossover cable? I haven't kept current on my networking knowledge... But if the printer is connected directly to the mac, you should be using a crossover cable. A quick google search says modern NICs can...
  3. Suggestions Need Suggestions on Clear / Translucent Vinyl

Keep in mind 8518 is non removable... So if it's something you ever plan on removing it'll be a pain in the ass. It also has a slight yellow tinge to it, it's not 100% optically clear like 8150. That being said weve used it a lot as well... Works great, only downside is when you go to remove...
  4. Need Help Compatible print substrate for Avery 6040 Sparkle lam on a boat?

It's got a 2 year durability on the overlam... So I wouldn't expect 4-5 years with it. Any cast Avery vinyl should work with it though.
  5. At A Crossroad, To Keep Going or Call It A Day?

Toronto is very cutthroat for the digital printing world. You can't throw a rock without hitting five print shops, and because of so much competition prices are so low there.. on top of being one of the most expensive cities to live in. I'm not saying give up, but I would take a step back...
  6. Graphtec FC7000 vs FC8600

Onyx told me "the vast majority of users sheet cut and notnroll cut, so the need for the direction change was there" If you look at cutting master 4.. the arrows are pointing the right way. Cm4 isngraphtecs own software... So if graphtec changed it, it'd be backwards in cm4 as well. I'm still...
  7. Suggestions Need Suggestions on Clear / Translucent Vinyl

3m 8150... Bit expensive, but its a clear. Look for optically clear vinyl if your customer doesn't like the "cloudiness"
  8. Graphtec FC7000 vs FC8600

In cut server, when you click preferences... theres a few options under cut job settings. Segment area correction is the one I'm talking about where it'll read 4 marks, then take up...read 2 more, then take up, etc. I do 15ish ft prints all the time, so having it only take up every 15 ft...
  9. WTB Cast Vinyl Scraps

Ask Grimco for some samples, or any other supplier. We can pretty much get any 8.5x11 samples we want from grimco direct from the supplier. Last time we asked I got like 40 diff pages.. Avery 3m, house brands, etc. They want to sell you vinyl, so they'll do their best to get you what you need.
  10. Graphtec FC7000 vs FC8600

Onyx changed their layout. They said people load from the front... So that's the front of their machine. I've submitted a ticket to have my "feedback reviewed" about how stupid and ass backwards that is. Onyx will only take up after it's done cutting a set / full length of marks by default...
  11. Graphtec FC7000 vs FC8600

Your 9000 has wifi? Do you mean cat5?
  12. printable vinyl supplier

Where are you located in Canada? Laird has $99 rolls. Do you have a Spicer's account online? They have 25 rolls of $125 dtec vinyl in BC .. 10 in other locations. They are sold out of their cheap $100 GB brand though.
  13. Question Going rate on color change wrap

Kind of. We went over it twice, verbally. We like to point out any areas we think will be problems to all of our customers so that they don't get an unexpected surprise. I think 99% of what we did anybody would have accepted, the front grill looked like garbage, and we figured we were going to...
  14. Question Going rate on color change wrap

Some people don't realize how much wraps are. Like I said, most of ours are in the 3-4k range, with smaller non full colors being in the 2. People still balk at it and walk away. One guy compared it to a Maco paint job. Said he can get a pain t job done for under $1000, so wraps are crazy...
  15. Question Going rate on color change wrap

Time to raise.my prices...jk! But it's amazing the difference based on location. We quote 3.5-4k and we're always too high compared to the other dedicated wrapping places so we barely get wraps. There's 2-3 shops around that would do it for 3-3.5k... and a dozen small, out of the garage places...
  16. Question Going rate on color change wrap

Between 2 and 4k for a full color change.... Probably in the 3.5 range. Never used cheetah wrap before, so maybe a bit cheaper if the material is cheaper .. Most of the cost in wraps is labor. Color changes cost a lot more because you have to do a ton of removal to do it properly.
  17. Ongoing Adhesive Issues (I'm totally exasperated)

We use 3m 467 a lot. 3m is over priced.for most things... But they are an adhesive company above anything else,.and they do adhesives great. Weve never seen it be uneven on roll stock.. you'd think the issues you're seeing would be from the adhesive flatening out in one spot. Do you keep the...
  18. Best CNC for aluminum signs?

You need to consider time too. Cutting 121 4"x8" with holes on a CNC you're probably looking at 2ish hours a sheet. With prep and all. 8" is so small so you're also looking at double sided taping them to the spoil board, or using tabs. No way you cut them without as half will move and get...
  19. Question ridge in middle of vinyl

    Isn't this a Polymeric vinyl?
