  1. How many are running Networked Attached Storage (NAS) for your files?

For those with a Nas and no remote backup ... $15 Canada ($10ish usd?) For unlimited backup per month to google cloud. Then if a us fails, you get malware or anything happens.. you can do your files from Google as needed right away while getting a new Nas/HD and doing a full restore..best money...
  2. How many are running Networked Attached Storage (NAS) for your files?

We run one. We used to use our server... But our storage needs have gotten greater and server hard drives are $$$. We use mechanical hd's - most of our files are under 100 mb, so we don't need SSD speeds. Especially in raid, we use 4 16 TB HDDs. We set it up so it gets real time uploaded...
  3. handle installation

I love at 48 seconds in the fix video when he instinctly goes to shut the door, the look on his face as he dives to prevent it from closing after realizing what he's doing is "FUCK NOT AGAIN!!" :roflmao: Whenever we remove handles... I keep the doors jammed open in fear I'll never be able to...
  4. 3M IJ180 Controltac alternative?

Are you buying one sheet at a time? Or what's your quantities like? $30 seems a bit expensive for 180 in those dimensions... surprised no one has mentioned this, but if you're only buying a sheet at a time you're probably getting hit with a minimum charge. You can do cheaper at many of the...
  5. Discussion Is it possible to succeed as a one man (woman) shop?

One man shops can succeed. 3-5 days turn around isn't bad, it's normal. We strive for 5, sometimes were quicker... Sometimes were later. A lot of our customers can buy certain labels off uline for 1/10 the price we sell it for.. but they don't because they want a one stop shop. Just doing...
  6. Convoy Banners

I drive pass an overpass everyday that has banners... In the beginning of covid it was healthcare stands together signage, now it's convoy signage. I always wondered about the liability of it. I can easily see some dumbass trying to hang a 15 ft banner off the side of a bridge not knowing what...
  7. Vinyl by the yard

I dont think 99% of our customers know the difference between a print, and cut vinyl. I'm not sure on the long lasting part either. Technology has come a long ways... I have some prints / wraps out there that have been out for 8+ years on a police vehicle, and it looks almost exactly the same...
  8. looking for Carbon Fiber imitation material..HELP

Mactac great, we use a lot of it... just never tried the carbon fiber overlam. If you do, let me know how it goes! I've always wanted to bring a roll on to play with.
  9. looking for Carbon Fiber imitation material..HELP

Mactac is a good brand, never used their carbon fiber overlam though. I've never used the stuff... If you have a 3m wrap book,.there's a sample in it - you can hold it overtop of a print and see what it'll look like. I wouldn't say it's bad... 3m made.itnbecause they didn't want to stock so...
  10. looking for Carbon Fiber imitation material..HELP

You can buy a overlam that turns any print into a carbon fiber... 3m makes it. Never used it, and if you're not going to use a full roll it probably won't help you... But maybe there's a cheap alternative?
  11. Pantone color book?

The operator before me used a Pantone chart he printed to pick colors and match to other customers pantones - they never profiled the printer so it wasn't terribly accurate... Everything was a few pantones off in terms of shades. Then our printer breaks and we get a new one - now all of a...
  12. Perforated Vinyl Lamination

You need to use an "Optically clear" Overlaminate, and then yes... it'll provide the same visibility. If on a car, even better because rain wont get stuck in the holes. It wont be bubble free when you install... So you have to press pretty hard. And it will leave nasty looking squeegee marks...
  13. Vinyl for pads

Another vote for 3164ht. That stuff is like super glue... Only vinyl we've found that will stick to plywood with just an undercoat on it. I did a bunch of 4 ft decals for a school on gym mats... They've held up for over a year now.
  14. Pantone color book?

Another option is color Muse. It's about half of the price of the nix and works perfectly for us. Every sales rep we have keeps one in their car for just in case. You will want a solid coated Pantone book for color matching, even if you have the sensor nothing beats being able to find a very...
  15. Epson s40600 issue

S40600. Head was 2.2k Canadian, then the others were roughly 200 each? So total all in was 2.6k Canadian which is roughly 2k usd. Not including install of course. Grimco messed up my main board when installing, so I got my install for free + a new main board as compensation for being down for...
  16. Epson s40600 issue

Does it happen often? Or just this once? You can do a cleaning mid print. Hit pause, goto cleaning... Select the cleaning you want, and it'll auto resume printing when your done. If it happens a lot... And usually after xx ft, you can goto media settings and set it up to do a cleaning every...
  17. Metallic gold vinyl

Is smooth gold (chrome) different than a metallic chrome?
  18. Metallic gold vinyl

https://www.fellers.com/rtape/cat/rtape/sub/rtape/set/rtape-vinylefx-solvent-printable-decorative-gold-and-silver-vinyl Rtape vinylefx makes a printable gold... More expensive than the cheap non printable stuff, but you'll have better luck with it.
  19. PayPal Scam

As long as you're doing everything above board PayPal isn't risky. In the past 10 years I've been randomly selected twice to prove that I was shipping what I was saying I was shipping, they give you a couple of transactions you have to prove you actually shipped out with a tracking #, or didnt...
  20. FB700 loses network static IP, have to restart printer to get it talking to the RIP again

You made me feel old so I googled it :roflmao: Looks like it was implemented with GB ports, which was introduced in 99. I was going to reply saying it was 15 years ago... Then realized were in 2022... So more like 23 years ago, and now I feel older! Not sure if the fb is 10/100 or GB, but if...
