You can buy a overlam that turns any print into a carbon fiber... 3m makes it. Never used it, and if you're not going to use a full roll it probably won't help you... But maybe there's a cheap alternative?

You need to use an "Optically clear" Overlaminate, and then yes... it'll provide the same visibility. If on a car, even better because rain wont get stuck in the holes. It wont be bubble free when you install... So you have to press pretty hard. And it will leave nasty looking squeegee marks...
