I think it would depend on one's ability. If you're really good at digitizing go that route. If you're really good with the brush go that route. my experience the vehicles with the Soft Edges was always harder to hand letter than the ones with a Hard Edge.

I think it's Abra brush regular, like you mentioned. If you go to my fonts and go to the glyph palette for that letter style it will show you all the characters there is quite a few. Good luck, if that's not it hopefully tiki or one of the font gurus would chime in.
