  1. Post Driver

Come up here and give that a shot, most of our city was built on an old riverbed, there are more rocks in the ground than there is dirt. We have both a manual pounder and a gas one, if I'm installing 1 or 2 posts I take the manual, if i'm installing 20+ guess which one I take?
  2. how big of a difference is cheap ebay laminate roll compared to other laminates?

Go for it, I'm sure you don't have a reputation to lose!
  3. Post Driver

we have this http://skidril.com/g20d.html works very well, you have to let it warm up though or it will stall as you are carrying it up the ladder. We had this one before http://propanehammer.com/ and it works but it sounds like a shotgun going off! we had a job about 500 yards from...
  4. My new sign installation lift...

As someone who also does a lot of interior work I can see this being very useful. There are quite a few times where I need to get up 12-15 feet in the middle of a hospital lobby to hang a sign, with this you can take the sign plus all your tools with you!
  5. Help me decide! Anyone out here with either the Roland RF-640 or EJ-640?

Sorry print heads are not dirt cheap, they cost around $150 each, there are 6 of them, that's $900 to change them all, based on conversations I've had with shops that run latex, they change the print heads about 3 times a year. $2700 per year is not "dirt cheap". Considering I've run my rolands...
  6. Exterior wall mount banner poles

Shomi is out of toronto and has some nice stuff http://goshomi.com/pages/banner_arms/
  7. from BMYK to CMYK inks

Tell him to stock the ink you need or you are finding another supplier. Maybe even get Mimaki involved, i'm sure they would be interested to hear about a dealer who is tying to push clients to 3rd party inks...
  8. solid brushed silver material for base of sign

Can you v-grove the aluminum composite to make a nice solid return, that way you can get the look of a nice thick substrate, and the edges will perfectly match the front
  9. Any VG Tru Vis users out there?

Is that a known issue? When we print a customer supplied file that has black, the printer is laying down TONS of ink, to the point where it almost looks like an embossed UV print, it dries, but it is super glossy. When we print a file we create ourselves using 0,0,0,100 for black, it prints...
  10. Any VG Tru Vis users out there?

We just bought a new VG-640 and are having an issue, If anyone else has one of these machines can you shoot me a PM, the issue seems to be related to either the machine or the new Versaworks Duo rip. Sorry for the vague question, but I would rather not say what the issue is until I confirm...
  11. Fellers in Canada?

The big players here are Grimco, ND Graphics and All Graphic Supply
  12. long lasting print on coroplast

Why not? I have coroplast signs that have been outside for over 3 years now, still look pretty good. I know it's not the ideal choice, and I would never guarantee it to a client, but it is possible. I've had clients want temporary signs on coroplast and they end up using them for a few...
  13. Fax it to you? Seriously?

We have a few clients who still insist on sending orders in via fax, a couple are lawyers and a few schools. The fax machine seems to still be king in the legal profession. I'm waiting for our fax machine to finally die so I can switch over to a fax2email service.
  14. Help/Advice for material printed and installed on drywall baricade

On drywall I don't think air release is needed at all, the texture of the wall almost acts as an air release in itself. If they don't care about damaging the wall when removed (I assume it will be thrown out in the end) I would go with something like Arlon DPF8000, which is a high tack vinyl...
  15. what is your shop warranty for vehicle lettering?

I disagree with this as both a consumer and a shop owner. You may not have made the vinyl, but you chose it, and you supplied it, therefore you are responsible for it. Imagine it this way, you hire a carpenter to build you a deck, it looks great when it's done, but 3months later the wood is...
  16. Wooden sign post pricing

It's not rocket science, why isn't the client getting the post? Why would they pay a middle man $70 for a $14 post? I could see if you were painting it to match something but a standard PT post is readily available anywhere.
  17. Am I the crazy one?

Yeah, not a ton, but I would have made a few bucks profit off the job, it's a super quick little job to run either with another job on the same material, or quickly in between large jobs. If I had to do little jobs like this all day I would go broke, but a few here and there is fine.
  18. Looking for smaller shopping bags

Why don't you find one of your customers who offer this service and purchase the finished products from them? You know, support your clients who support you and all that.
  19. Am I the crazy one?

There was a written quote in the form of an email message, which he replied to and said "can I get 3" As for production proof, the client sent production ready artwork, we don't normally do proofs for such small jobs unless asked, especially when production art is sent to us. If I had to...
  20. Am I the crazy one?

I got an email inquiry from our website a few weeks ago for some small engraved plastic signs looking for a quote, I quoted him $6.95 each and informed him of our $20 minimum engraving charge so he would need to order 3 to meet the minimum. I got a reply back saying: "I’d like to see how...
