  1. How do you guys keep track of orders/jobs currently in your shop?

We currently use a combination of paper docket folders and Smartsheet for our "Job Board". I've never been satisfied with this part of our business and have always been on the hunt for a better way of doing things. Our current method takes way too long to write up orders and we're...
  2. Suggestions Cutting Polyethylene Foam Sheets for packaging?

Thanks guys! Might have to look into another option that we can perhaps prototype in house. CanuckSigns you guys ever mess with this type of thing on your laser(s)?
  3. Suggestions Cutting Polyethylene Foam Sheets for packaging?

Is anyone into this type of stuff? (After doing some quick research I believe this is a polyethylene foam....) What is the best way to cut foam inserts so that parts can be dropped in for shipping? I've attached a picture of an example, what we need to make would be slightly different. They...
  4. Question Lease or Buy

We generally lease most of our equipment (w/ $1 buyout) for 48 months. We did get a loan for a printer a couple years back but the variable interest rate hasn't worked in our favor. It is however open-ended and can be paid off anytime so at least there's that.
  5. Add another Colex or will one Zund do what the two Colex

So why not put a tiny bit of effort into explaining yourself and maybe you might just get some helpful answers..................?
  6. What goes on first PPF or Vinyl wrap?

We don't deal with PPF at all, but common sense would lead me to think to apply wrap first, then PPF. Wrap over PPF would make PPF pointless, wouldn't it?

  8. Need Help Roland XR-640 - Help with overspray issues

Ended up replacing Head B as well, back in business with 2 perfect nozzle tests and good quality again. Not a cheap fix but worth it to get us back up and running! Although I did get some really good pricing on an Epson S60600L.......oh well that will have to wait.
  9. Need Help Roland XR-640 - Help with overspray issues

It does indeed look like head height is set to high, but it's not. Thanks for the suggestion though!
  10. Unrealistic requests/deadlines

We get ridiculous demands all the time, usually just say no thanks. I'm actually just about to fire a customer that continues to pester me with last minute time-wasting jobs.
  11. Need Help Roland XR-640 - Help with overspray issues

Thanks Gary. I did indeed do several manual cleans and print head/cap top/wiper assembly is spotless. Tech even said it's one of the cleanest printers he's seen. We do actually have some of those stop static elastic things and I put it on the printer and will report back. There is obviously...
  12. Need Help Roland XR-640 - Help with overspray issues

Our 8 year old XR-640 recently started printing pretty lousy and given the fact that we had a few nozzles out we thought a head replacement would solve the issue. No more crisp lines and were experiencing more banding than we had in the past. After having a tech replace head A, there is no...
  13. Thoughts on new equipment installation and training

Ha. Like our Grimco installer that installed our Summa F1612. He had literally never seen one before.
  14. Hello and wassup!

  15. New F1612, annoying issue with GoProduce Barcode.

I know what you're saying, but it does fall under due diligence at a certain point. I always ask a million questions when we're evaluating equipment and software. We've made our biggest purchases sight unseen (Oce flatbed printer & Summa F1612) and I was comfortable pulling the trigger once...
  16. New F1612, annoying issue with GoProduce Barcode.

The dealer should have had a conversation with you about what RIP you were using. Any dealer/tech/sales person worth a grain of salt should have been able to tell you that you can't print from rasterlink and use barcode features on an F series. You can still manually add cut marks in Corel or...
  17. Gasketing contour cut material - tips?

Have you tried putting craft paper down on the whole bed before laying your pieces down? I remember Canon suggesting we do this for shape cut pieces but I can't say we've ever tried it. We usually do the same as you, mask off big areas with lexan or styrene then fill in the rest w/ tape. Not...
  18. Onyx cut line issue

That's unfortunate - seems like a fairly major bug. You think they would take it seriously if it has the potential to ruin jobs.
  19. Onyx cut line issue

Good to know, thanks. Was planning to run a similar job where we would add bleed, cutline and label in onyx. I wonder if I don't have auto-rotate turned on if it will work?
  20. Onyx cut line issue

Along that train of thought, I guess it could be a few things going wrong, either in Onyx Job Editor, Cut Server, or Go Produce. If you uncheck "send automatically to cutter" in Cut server so you can preview the cut files before they send to GoProduce - does the initial preview look all messed...
