I have one of these next to each printer and vinyl cutter. Rule - ALWAYS tap it before touching equipment - In the Wintertime there is always a discharge - shock thru my finger!!!

Open device manager - and see what port the plotter is on. - it may have changed with an update, or something.

Take a look at Logojet, Direct Color systems and Mimaki. I am sure I am missing one.
Remember too that these printers need to run alot to avoid clogged heads - heads are expensive to replace.
That stuff is HEAVY - I would pre feed as much as possible so the cutter motor doesn't have to lift it off the rollers. Some folks run MX graphics and such with a table behind and in front of the cutter.
try and make sure baud rates match - there should be a stock rate for the cutter hardware- it should match the COM port, and you may have to adjust in Flexi. - so three places
edit: Also older serial devices dont have the larger memory like newer cutters. So true serial ports regulate the flow...
