If you are printing with solvent or eco solvent inks, make sure you let the inks gas out for 24 hours before you laminate (Rolled up tight doesn't work, like on a take-up real. The solvents need air to escape)
Why?
1. The solvents have to go somewhere and if you trap them they end up...
What exactly do YOU do?
For little over a year I have been on my own installing graphics for other companies in the Florida panhandle, South Alabama and Georgia. I will travel further when budgets allow and have traveled to San Francisco, Santa Monica, DC, Atlanta, and Puerto Rico to install...
In my humble opinion 3M and Avery are the go to brands if you factor in looks, easy of install, and removability. Edges on laminated prints aren't a problem as long as you follow a few simple rules; 1. avoid sharp points, especially less than 45 degrees. I will typically round the corners for...
I was thinking the 1-2 year polyester versions like Oracal 351. The stuff that turns matte silver in a couple of years. With signgold and the 4x8 blank you have about $300 - $400 in materials depending on the coverage before any markup and labor.
It's not really similar but www.vistasystems.com has nice directories if the other systems aren't cost effective and you don't have to match existing signs.
Their directories are poly paper print based behind a textured lexan. Easy to install easy to change.
Good points Pat!
Also, If you live in a city with lots of pollution the vinyl won't last as long.
On vehicle wraps the customer need to properly and regularly clean the vehicle or it won't last as long as well. Here is an article I wrote that is a summarized version of both Oracal and...
Vinyl manufactures warranties are based on middle America and are different in southern climates. They are based on vertical installations so a vehicle hood, roof or trunk will last half as long. (Vertical surfaces don't get a full days sun while horizontal surfaces do) We laminate everything...
20 to 30 a month, one at a time, and on a budget, why wouldn't you cut them by hand? A good safety ruler and a sharp knife should do the trick. If you don't think that is feasible, go to your local art store and look for a matte cutter.
I think Colorado thought you were talking about a full wrap on an old style sprinter van. Those have about a 2.5" gap that is about .75" deep around the windows. If you try to stretch the vinyl in there it will fail. So what he is talking about is you install the vinyl on the high spots and...
