  1. cg160 fx wont cut laminate

Are you sending the pressure data from the software or setting it at the cutter? There's a menu setting in the cutter to allow/disallow software commands, maybe that has been switched off?
  2. New yellow head, not drawing ink.

My bet is the head isn't seated properly. You may think it is but it's easy to get wrong. It can feel like it's clicked in place and you can screw it down but it can still be out. In your case it sounds like it's sitting up at one end and unable to get a seal around the cap. You may be able...
  3. fc8000-130 ARMS sight trouble

I use type 2 four points with my 7000. One thing I find I need to do is make sure the origin is not too far away from the first reg mark. I have to trim the sheet back so there's only a couple of inches of leader from the edge of the sheet to the first mark. That way, when it sets up the...
  4. JV33 pros and cons

Well I just ordered a new JV33-130 bundle (with a CG-130SR2 cutter and Royal Sovereign RS 1400h Laminator). Here in Oz we can't get SS21 ink so I've ordered it with their new ECO HS-1 ink. Here's a snippet from their media release: "The newly developed Eco-HS1 ink has no toxic ingredients...
  5. Contouring around a picture

I just noticed the same thing: On a file where I'd removed the background with Fluid Mask, I printed to a pdf for emailing and the pdf showed the yellow background. Weird. I made a copy and rendered it to a bitmap for emailing.
  6. Need graphtec blades in bulk... where?

Thanks guys, I haven't had chance to test it with the new cut length yet. I use Signlab which has the half cut commands the same as via Graphtec. The beauty of Signlab is you can send a print/cut/perf cut job all in one go. Wooly I understand what you mean by the blades getting damaged by...
  7. Need graphtec blades in bulk... where?

Thanks Jason/Bigdawg. I reckon the second tool position is the key - this is what the Mimaki has. Still, it's worth me perservering with this as I'd like to figure out if it's do-able on the 7000. I'll try reducing the cut length as I had it around 50mm (2").
  8. Need graphtec blades in bulk... where?

Hey Jase, how do you get your Graphtec to perf cut? I mean, I know how to tell it to do it, and I have meticulously played with the settings, but whenever I've tried it it just screws everything up into a mangled mess. I have been led to assume it's just impossible to cut through the backing -...
  9. FC7000 Cutting Issues

When you say "left to right" do you mean up and down the Y axis or left to right on the x axis?? If it's out on the Y axis only it would indicate that the belt may be slipping a tad. I had this problem with my last cutter where the spindle on the motor that drives the belt had a bit of play in...
  10. Graphtec FC-7000 getting stuck on Cross-Cut

I had this happen when I first got my FC 7000. Had to get a tech to come out and fix it. It was an adjustment to a sensor or lever in the cutting head assembly. When it goes up to meet the rod it activates the sensor/lever thing. If it's not adjusted to the right limit it will activate the Y...
  11. New head installation (need assistance)

Good to hear, hope the printing goes well.
  12. New Record!

The problem is obviously at your end so it's no use blaming the software. You should probably try to troubleshoot this yourself - update the drivers for your graphics card, update Windows, update your version of Signlab, clean up your registry (CCleaner is good for this) ...that should help for...
  13. Print & Cut Problem (Disappearing Design)

Have a look at the page control in the bottom right corner. It should read 0/0. Sometimes imported files get spread over a few page layers and some parts wont show up when you get into Print & Cut preview. This has been an intermittant problem in Signlab which has always been subsequently...
  14. New head installation (need assistance)

You have to verify if the cap is making a good seal or not. Unplug the tube from the bottom of the cap and slowly syringe directly from there. It has to pull ink through. If still you're not getting any ink, see if you can get someone to press the cap up manually (gently with a screwdriver)...
  15. New head installation (need assistance)

Okay, so ink is in the dampers and fluid can drain from the caps when you pour it in. If you can't pull ink through with a syringe then it's got to be the seal around the caps. You changed the capping station - is it lining up correctly under the head? You changed the head - is it seated...
  16. JV33 inksets SS21 or ES3?

Hmm, that's not what I meant by metamerism. I know it as the effect you see when you look across a print at a certain angle and you see differentiation in the colors in the reflection - like a yellow or reddish tinge floating through. Certain colored pigments seem to reflect differently...
  17. JV33 inksets SS21 or ES3?

Looks good. So now they offer high solvent (HS1) - Eco hi solvent (Eco-HS1) - mild solvent (SS21) and Eco Solvent (ES3). "The newly developed Eco-HS1 ink has no toxic ingredients such as Cyclohexanone and NMP, which vastly improves the work environment and health conditions. Also the inks...
  18. JV33 inksets SS21 or ES3?

I went along to an expo last week and they had a JV33 there running ES3 inks. I'm interested in this machine so I got to have a good look over it. They were printing a hi rez photo in 16 pass and had a couple on the floor so I asked if I could take one to test the inks. The rep ummed and...
  19. Signlab Settings....

I should mention that it's not imperitive that you change all your input profiles as I have done - the default Calink one's should be close enough. The main points are to uncheck that box that says "Use input profiles when in Print & Cut" if it is checked and uncheck the CMYK profiles in the rip.
  20. Signlab Settings....

Hi Bill, I've had this happen to me where my blacks would come out brownish. Luckily I spotted where the problem arose from - this may be the same for you. When you install Signlab if you look in the color management box it will have a check by the box "Use input profiles when in Print &...
