  1. Distressed Piano Factory Sign

Had some fun practicing my distressing techniques this weekend.
  2. New logo for myself.

I think since it does look Old School, he should keep the period after CO. I like it.

Wow. Do people even care anymore?
  4. Carved Pizza Sign

I agree 100%. In fact, I've only tacked the applique on temporarily for now since I was so unsure. I've been looking at it too long :)
  5. Carved Pizza Sign

Thanks The sign itself is HDU, painted with exterior acrylic paint. The Pizza is sculpted with Aves Apoxie Sculpt and painted with artist acrylics.
  6. Carved Pizza Sign

Here's a sign I just finished up. Still working on my hand carving, some of the depths of the letters are off, but it's getting easier!
  7. Need Suggestions about what to buy.

Either a table saw or a scroll saw should do it.
  8. Thoughts?

Nice layout. I HATE trying to build logos out of business names with initials. Who ever thought thought it was a good idea to name your business with initials anyway? Horrible idea. Not very original or memorable. Saturday rant over.
  9. New shop front sign ( my own )

I like the top version a lot Shane. You may want to consider dropping "& Graphics" for this though so you can increase the size of SunCity Signs and center it vertically.
  10. Giving cedar a weathered look.

The vinegar and steel wool trick works great. Plus you don't have to work with hazardous chemicals that way.
  11. Corel X7 gone crazy

Corel is much more robust than Flexi. I wouldn't switch. I still can't understand how a program designed for the sign industry wouldn't support transparencies on bitmaps. Unless that's changed with the newer versions. I'm surprised you're having these issues with Corel. Have you tried...

  14. Bought a CE2000-60

The plotter should treat you well. The hard part is keeping it running :)

  16. Hand Carved Beach House Sign

The letters are incised. Haven't tried prismatic yet, but it looks like you can do a good job with hand tools... http://www.signsofgold.com/publications_80_816203370.pdf
  17. Hand Carved Beach House Sign

True, but the paint mask cleans up nicely my less than perfect carves :)
  18. Paint Mask Questions

Thanks guys, I'll keep experimenting. Might have to invest in a small sprayer someday. Gino, I'm not a sign painter, just use the quill because I have it. :) I use the mask to carve first, then leave it in place for painting.
  19. Hand Carved Beach House Sign

I've been practicing (and still need lots of practice) my hand carving skills. I have to say a big thanks to Adrian Page for taking so much time to help me get going with this. Here's a beach sign I'm wrapping up today. Made from HDU and hand painted with acrylic latex paints.
  20. Paint Mask Questions

Thanks for the tips. Don't your first coats dry though by the time you remove the mask? My coats may have been a bit heavy, I'm coating with a quill. Painting a small HDU sign.
