  1. Wall Wraps- Shrinking, Curling

I’m not familiar with Arlon but it should definitely be paired with the corresponding Arlon laminate instead of Oraguard. But I’m very familiar with Oraguard 210 and that does shrink quite a bit...educate yourself on calendared vs cast vinyl, 210 is calendared and will shrink. If the adhesion of...
  2. Whats the ideal pricing for banner and stickers?

Yeah but you’re at the mercy of their turnaround times and quality, and if you have a design error or customer provided incorrect info to reprint is costly and time consuming...
  3. Panels have mismatching colors. Printed from same file. Help!

It's tough to follow exactly your scenario but some food for thought....I've seen instances where cropping/rotating and Re-Ripping a file cause color shift. Most often when the print file uses clipping masks and spot colors. I've seen Versaworks and ONYX both struggle when the design is heavy...
  4. Newbie Tatami fill question

Hey Wild West Designs! I just wanted to follow up and thank you for your help again. ALL of the advice and suggestions you provided were dead accurate. Long stitches was the problem and the fix you suggested was indeed the fix that made it better. I didn't grab a picture of it but it came out...
  5. Vinyl coming off wall

Orafol 3105ht w/ 210 overlaminate will stick to low VOC/textured and hard to stick walls...simple, affordable, tried and true! I literally sell this stuff rolls and rolls on end and it gets installed on painted walls all over the country and overalls not a single failure in two years. Probably...

Awesome!! Really great advice all around...we will adjust and test and see what the results are, probably in the next day or two. Going to eat dinner and chill for the night and get back at it tomorrow. Thanks again for all your help, I’ll report back with our results, thanks!!!
  7. Newbie Tatami fill question

Thanks again for your help...I've attached a screen shot of my angle, start/stop, and settings. I purchased Wilcom E4 and have full editing capability. I'm manually setting start/stop points, stitch angles, density, pull comps, and can adjust anything. Full and very expensive version of the...
  8. Newbie Tatami fill question

I’ll give this a try too thanks!
  9. Newbie Tatami fill question

So it’s imported as a vector graphic...then the tatami tool is used to convert it to stitches but did not use the satin tool...by default it places an edge run and zig zag underlay underneath the actual tatami fill itself...my stitch length is 2.5mm and density is .35...start point is bottom...
  10. Newbie Tatami fill question

Hello to all! I’m having trouble getting my Tatami fills to close without any gaps. Haven’t had any trouble before but all the sudden its happening on a couple files...I digitize my own stuff in Wilcom and haven’t had any trouble with this until now. I’ve attached a picture showing the yellow...
  11. Question die cutting stickers

I used to half cut on the Mimaki it worked pretty well. But man if you see a Summa do the same thing you'll poop a brick, Mimaki is molasses compared to Summa on a perf cut. I was stunned when I saw the Summa do it, really fast, also really noisy haha!
  12. Question die cutting stickers

I think it should be an option for you but not sure...it's a feature of the design software and RIP and Summa just cuts it, should work with any plotter as long as the softwares offer it....I'm an Adobe/ONYX guy so don't know much about Flexi...it's set up the same way you would set up the spot...
  13. Question die cutting stickers

Perf cut all the way! It's known as flex cut on Summa. Not sure about other plotters but the Summa does this quickly. We will kiss cut the decal, then flex cut the outer shape (all automated via the RIP software, Cut Server, and Barcode server). We print our "Business Card" type information on...
  14. Question gas-out solvent inks

The type of ink you are using matters....latest Epsons they advertise you can lam in 6 hours and not void warranty...otherwise it's 24 hours to maintain valid warranty (among other hoops to jump through)...eco-sol in general can laminate more quickly than true solvent. The brand/ink type makes a...
  15. What's proper etiquette if a prospect sends you a competitor's proof for pricing?

In my opinion the nature of the design plays a big part here...is the design "words on a board" in which case the words/fonts aren't owned by the original creator anyway and the artwork is considered derivative and they don't own it in the first place. In that case copy away! But if it's a...
  16. Woodgrain in Photoshop or...

Either a stock vector or really high res raster...I like istockphoto.com or shutterstock. I did a couple wraps to make modern vehicles look like the old woodies. My technique was to find a really high resolution wood grain from Istockphoto, make it tileable (can be done with any image, lots of...
  17. HP LATEX REDDISH HUE on prints. HELP PUSHING DEADLINE NEED HELP ASAP

It seems like this could be a whole thread in itself...dypinc and 2ct seem to have some knowledge and experience with color management that I/we would benefit from diving deeper into...next week I’ll start a thread in this regard...might be some existing threads but in my opinion might be some...
  18. HP LATEX REDDISH HUE on prints. HELP PUSHING DEADLINE NEED HELP ASAP

Teach me haha! We aren't experiencing any color calibration or consistency issues, but if you have a method that allows the same print to look the same under different lighting conditions then I need to know how it's done. I've taken some color management classes with Grimco and Epson but have...
  19. HP LATEX REDDISH HUE on prints. HELP PUSHING DEADLINE NEED HELP ASAP

On top of my agreement with Bly, look at your colors under natural light. In our shop if it looks a little pink in the shop lighting it's perfectly neutral under sunlight. I do the trick with my guys all the time...have them look at a print in the shop (greys show it most) and it's terrible and...
  20. Roll your calendar back to 1975

I have to say that I personally think that hand/eye coordination are just as important as ever and that talent is talent regardless of your tool/medium of choice. I consider printers/computers just another tool (operated with our hands and minds by the way) no different than a brush or tape...
