Genuine question...was it actually an "industry" at that time? I was born in 1984 and have been in the modern sign industry for almost 12 years, so genuinely asking. I started out by apprenticing under a couple of guys that started in the 60s painting showcards in their garage. By the stories...
Every scenario is different and judged on a case by case basis. If it’s out for a weekend then calendared is fine, if it’s out for 7 years then cast, if it’s out for 20 years then ditch vinyl and carve it. But also there’s other factors to consider...does the vinyl need to conform over...
Our people are the best equipment we have. Good people can make excellent things happen with lesser tools, crappy people can't do anything good even with the best tools. But if that doesn't qualify then I'd say our FB550, it's like printing money. Followed by our Summa tangential plotter, it...
Haha yup I have a mental image of two dudes holding the liner up while the third blows smoke under it, then they squeegee down real quick to lock in the stench haha!
I haven't noticed it on the 8509, but on Oraguard 210M it when it releases off the liner a similar vomit-like smell, or maybe...
Nope haven't had that one yet...but I sometimes receive ACM that when you remove the protective plastic it releases a strong odor of cigarettes. Must be a chemical in the adhesive of the protective sheet, I'm guessing...but definitely smells like an ash tray!
I agree with czbhu, but if it was previously working and hasn't been moved then likely the machine is level. First check calibration, but if it continues to happen then you likely have something wrong in the carriage rail movement system...could be a motor, encoder or encoder sensor associated...
No onus off the backs of the media, there's a lot of shade being thrown on all accounts and it's a real problem. But in my opinion the real root of the problem is we, the people...if we weren't so easily manipulated the media wouldn't have a leg to stand on, essentially it's a battle over who...
Absolutely, but now with social media and forums it's much easier for the reds, blues, and foreign influencers to do it with direct contact to the gullable majority. It's rampant and just begun. Used to be you could just wear a tin foil hat and be good.
I do some blockout banner with Gudy 2 sided window laminate (double sided adhesive, high tack on one side applied to banner, low tack on other side that sticks it to the truck). It acts a lot like a magnet and can be removed/reused, biggest downfall is that the vehicle needs to be cleaned prior...
That's more evidence towards a printhead alignment issue....there should be some kind of "set screw" or pin that the head sits against....that pin determines the alignment of the head on the Y axis. It's different on each printer but the point is that there is some kind of physical mechanism...
could be sabre angle as HenryP described, but I don't think that would result in the prints as you showed them....really looks like a head alignment issue of one kind or another....is it along the X or Y axis that the magenta/shows? You can also see the cyan on the opposite side, what you are...
I'm a Chrome guy but Firefox is a close second. I saw on television and my wife told me something similar about Mozilla/Firefox being some kind of socially conscious company. I'll probably get shredded on here for saying that bc I can't quite remember what it was and can't seem to find anything...
Ok so this is a terrible situation....first of all do not wrap vehicles with UV ink, simply not it's intended use and it will not turn out well. Laminating UV prints is something we do all the time here for a specific type of wall graphic we produce...it silvers really bad if you don't do it...
Yup had it happen a few times....kept running various diagnostics only to realize they filled the cartridge with the wrong ink. Only had it happen with HP inks, but had it happen multiple times on both latex and UV machines...call the place you bought the ink and they will ask a batch number or...
The general mentality is "us vs them" in today's society and Signs101 is an anecdote of that. I've learned a crap ton here, and anybody that has actually met me knows that I've dedicated a life to art/creativity, sign making an extension of that. And this site has been a great asset to my hard...
