  1. Not Printing what I see on screen

You can make a macro to convert all C0 M0 Y0 K100 blacks to R0 G0 B0 And also use the eyedropper to add that to your color palette for future use. And set your default text and shape outline to use that color If we're printing an all raster image we'll export as an rgb tiff for print. Otherwise pdf.
  2. Question Is "RasterLink Tools" a version of "FineCut"? And...

FineCut is a plug in for Corel. They also make one for Illustrator. We chose Corel. All our plotting is done directly in Corel. You can use macros to set your file up at each workstation. Adding weed lines, registration marks and such. We only used Rasterlink for printing. We now use an HP with...
  3. Help!! What is this???

    Might try here
  4. QUOTE HELP. I've never had a quote request like this.

I'd make them sign a disclosure to not hold you accountable if the color issue does come up. Another thing to consider, unless corporate has a specific acceptable rta vinyl you'll have to print them to get a pantone.
  5. QUOTE HELP. I've never had a quote request like this.

Rectangle cut or kiss cut? I'd outsource it.
  6. LOGO SITE ( like Brands of the World)

  7. LOGO SITE ( like Brands of the World)

Sometimes I see who made the website. That info is usually at the bottom of the website. I'll copy the link for reference and simply ask if they have the logo in vector format. Had 1 guy call me within 10 minutes to find out why I needed it. He then called the company for permission and bam...

  9. Grey/ gradient issue

Not the best way to make a gradient (two shapes) I'm not familiar with InDesign but I know in corel you can make your "fountain fill" then click an icon to "smooth" the transition. And, yeah, not a good idea to mix rgb from one end to cmyk on the other end. And I've always had better luck using...
  10. Question Just wondering..........................

very common for corporations to supply the font or pay for a particular font if it's what they want. We just add the cost into their quote.
  11. customer needs a small pole pocket banner - reply is lol

my polite reply "It’s common in this profession to divert from using true center if “visually” it looks “off”. Since the logo is bottom heavy it would appear, if perfectly centered, that it sits too low. The image given was set up at true center. I just bumped it up a bit. I wasn’t made aware...
  12. customer needs a small pole pocket banner - reply is lol

As I look at the image, I see that the center of the image is centered in the total absolute space. Thinking in terms of the "Rule of 5ths," so to speak, and not knowing the height dimensions of the pdf image, I'm not able to say exactly to the inch as to how to situate it. When I take...
  13. Help, please - Mimaki CG-130 FX - How to read a print file for Cutting from RasterLink6 to FineCut8

We use Rasterlink with CorelDRAW. Much the same way. Layout the fifty in corel and use macros to create the cut layer, registration and cut marks. Should be a way one could record a script to do the same in illustrator. Corel has a step and repeat but I use a macro to do that too. We do this at...

  16. Big Circle...

tape a piece of string to the center edge of a sheet of pvc. Make a loop at the other end at exactly 47". Put a pencil tip inside the loop and trace the half circle. Cut & repeat
  17. Orange printed as Red on corriboard. Anyone know why and can it be salvaged?

From what I have experienced the only file format to hit pantone colors is pdf. Doesn't matter what file type you send a third party print shop. You have no idea how they're sending it to the print RIP. If they're using pdf, great, but only if the settings are correct. How the RIP is set up...
