If you are using a roland (and probably others) you can complete an overhanging laminate job before you leave the shop. setup your file twice, one with the cut line where you want it for the gold and another file with the cut line where you want the laminate cut. send the first file as print and...

I used Ultra®Mount foam core. prints on Oracal 3165 with calendered gloss laminate and cut by hand.

Checked out that site, everyone seems nice and tight lipped about equipment/film/ink needed, but most seem to be using a gravure printing method printing on PVA (polyvinyl alcohol) films and an undisclosed oil/solvent ink. although one person did say that they had printed using an epson solvent...
