  1. Major Failure of IJ 35-20

This doesn't look like a material failure.. Was the wall test done before install? Do one now. I'll bet it doesn't pass... Wrong material for the job.

  4. matte lam. over reflective?

We have 8915 Ultramatte on four of our shop vehicles, and one of them has Oracal 5600 underneath. It is nowhere near as reflective as it would be with 8518 on top. All of our shop vehicles also have reflective lettering with 8518 laminate (including the one with reflective/matte) and side by...

  8. question for shop who make 3m$/year

If you're asking strictly if an LX800 and FB500 are capable of producing $3m/yr worth of vinyl, then I say no. Not by themselves at least. We have an LX800 and FB950 (the FB500's older, bigger brother) and three other printers, a Zund, and a ton of other misc equipment, along with about 20...
  9. Using A Laser Level ???

No vehicles are level. The ground may be unlevel, trucks and vans have a rake, even passenger cars don't sit level. If you use a laser level, the graphics may be level with that line, but that will be all. It will look crooked to all of the body lines. Determine which body lines to...
  10. question for shop who make 3m$/year

No way to answer that question with any degree of certainty. Are they selling wholesale at dirt cheap prices? Those two printers are enough to push $3m/year at low prices. No installers? So are they subbing that out and it's included in the sales? I'd be more worried about how you...
  11. UGH. New Problems.

Andrew, looks to me like you're not getting ANY heat. Is it?
  12. Ever taken a job that..

[rant] Had a client today that I priced ourselves out of having to deal with. I overheard our sales director on the phone with someone, explaining that for plain typed in lettering we charge by the line. We usually do this for el cheapo truck drivers that don't want to spend any money...
  13. need to outsource corplast screenprint signs

    Keith does great work.
  14. Gold Rush Alaska...again

I was just saying the same thing. That guy's a moron. He sat there talking about how he loves gold.. just wishes he was good at gold mining. Really??? WTF??
  15. Fine banding

We always print in bi-di on the Rolands unless it is VERY small text. Many of the canned Roland profiles gave a pink tint for us. The color adjustment sliders work well for tweaking colors. If it's pink, add cyan/remove magenta. If it's green, add magenta/remove cyan. Many colors that...
  16. Ever taken a job that..

    We've all been there brutha.
  17. Fine banding

C+5, K+2, M-2, Y-0 Try that and see what happens. Whatever you do, keep in mind this is just a bandaid. Your profiles are off and should be fixed.
  18. Your Choice Roland printer Please Help

I've never heard anything good about the AJ series. Fine for billboards and such, but not good for wraps, POP, anything to be viewed up close.
  19. Laminating and the dry winter air

It don't get much dryer than it is here.. no wiping 99% of the time.
  20. Fine banding

True. In the color adjustment area you can also add C, add K, and reduce M to take the pink tint out of the "preserve primary colors" Off print. That'll solve the banding issue as well.
