I would personally choose Roland Versaworks over Mimaki's Rasterlink.
Rasterlink is a joke. We spent a couple days trying to use it then just switched everything over to Onyx.
I can't really comment on the build of the solvent Mimakis as I've never run one before, we just have the UCJV model...
Funny you should mention this. I'm actually redoing some boat graphics for a customer that wasn't happy with our red foil printed on metallic silver. It turned it too "pink".
Sigh............. lesson learned. Don't do personal projects for people with $50k outboards.
Which Edge are you running? We've got 35 yds left of an old (a couple years at least) Champagne Gold cartridge. (Old style cartridge, for Edge 2)
I'll give you a sweet deal on it if you want it. Let me know.
Years ago we had to wrap the front of a couple of those. I used a step ladder on each side and rigged up a frame w/ 4x4's and a platform that sat just above the roof.
In hindsight, it was pretty sketchy...especially since I was mostly working over the weekend in the shop alone. But I got it...
If the vinyl failed after 1 month.....I'd say it's on you for a) using vinyl b) not using vinyl that will last more than a month.
That's assuming it wasn't poorly fastened and flapped enough to ruin the graphics....which with customer installed banners is a big possibility.
Really it depends...
I get what you're saying, but we have a TD Travel Visa (Ha.....remember travel?) and we easily accumulated over a million points just by paying our suppliers with it. Still have Net 30 terms, but just pay by Visa before due date then transfer the funds onto the card same day. As long as you...
The only workable solution is dealing with clients that have money.... IMHO. I can never imagine going to pay for something and A) Not knowing if I have money on a card and B) Having so many maxed out cards that I can't remember which one has monies left. But maybe I'm just responsible with...
Awesome, thanks! And yes, I would try downcut with prints facing up to hopefully eliminate the need to flip it over. We do have a cutting mat/underlay we put down down when routing so we don't chew up the belt, I wonder if I could get away with using a thin sacrificial sheet of MDO instead...
Looking for an economically priced 54" printable engineer grade reflective. Would need a 50yd roll for a job we're bidding on.
Only really finding Oralite 5600 that checks all the boxes. Am I missing anything?
-Needs to be 54" wide
-Needs to be available in 50yd rolls
-Needs to meet minimum...
Which is usually followed by............"I trust your judgement, you're the expert"
Which is then followed by 16 rounds of revisions, approvals and further revisions AFTER being approved for production.
That's good to know. We also use a Belin U/C bit for cutting dibond w/ prints and ran into the same issue. Some laminates work better than others, but 3M 8518 definitely leaves a crappy edge. I've tried adding a cheap premask before routing, and that helps a bit, but not 100%. I will try...
