  1. Have you seen plywood lately???

Yeah lumber prices are crazy. Just dropped $1600 on pressure treated at Home Depot on the weekend, and that was just to reskin my deck! (Structure was fine) That whole "measure twice, cut once" saying should now be "measure 6 times, cut once, and hope like hell you aren't wasting material!" I...
  2. Gerber omega 7.0

Ah ok. Gotcha. Well that is still helpful, so thanks!
  3. Gerber omega 7.0

I might have to check this out then if they've finally improved font handling. One thing we run into almost daily, is when opening files on a different computers it will result in font errors, claiming "the font" (usually something stupid simple like Arial) isn't installed, even though it's...
  4. Need Help Need a decal for a product

Depending on the logo/shape etc. you could go with a domed decal. Depending on what size those things are they wouldn't be terribly expensive and would look OEM.
  5. 54” Summa S2-140T

We have an older S140T and it's a workhorse. Cut quality and accuracy is unreal compared to using print/cut on a Roland or Mimaki. I think you'll be very happy with your purchase, we've got 3 Summa cutters now and I really like them. Would buy again.
  6. Reusing Lexan/backlit material

I personally won't deal with trying to repurpose old faces anymore. Have done it too many times and just isn't worth the aggravation. As far as I'm concerned the old faces are only good for getting the sizing for the new one.
  7. 12' Tall 8' Wide Post frame sign

Is that coroplast with only stringers @ 4'?!? That would explain the missing fourth panel lol.
  8. UCJV-300 Cast Vinyl and Laminate Question

No problem, any other questions just let me know. We used our old faithful GBC Titan laminator. We also got a Mimaki heat-assist laminator with the deal when we got our UCJV, but ironically it's sitting in a corner collecting dust as we don't have space to set up both of them and it takes too...
  9. UCJV-300 Cast Vinyl and Laminate Question

We just wrapped a food trailer with Avery 1105RS + 1060Z, printed full coverage with LUS-170 inks on our UCJV. Silvering was fairly consistent throughout the prints, only changed with firm squeegee pressure. We used a bit of heat on our laminator, but the amount of heat you need to eliminate it...
  10. Equipment financing options and terms

Yes National Leasing/CWB has always been good to us. They don't even ask for financials anymore lol.
  11. NOW HIRING ISSUE

Glad to hear you found a few good new team members! Just out of curiosity, what are they expected to do until their spots are ready for them? How do you guys handle the downtime until they fill their new positions? Reason I ask, we need to hire someone asap, but it's taking me longer than it...
  12. Equipment financing options and terms

Good points Gene, I completely agree. We usually do 48-60 month leases with $1 buyout at the end. It has worked well for us over the years and we have kept the equipment still running well beyond when it's paid off. Also did a $40k equipment loan from a Canadian business development bank and...
  13. Question Will this work?

How does the cutter read the marks, does it read all of them then start cutting? (Assuming yes) Just thinking out loud, our flatbed cutter luckily only reads a few marks then starts cutting, which is great for longer runs that messed up and didn't print the last row of marks.
  14. Need Help Canon Arizona 1380gt Static and Humidity Issues

You can also kind of feel it underneath and feel when it's working, you almost get a little shock when you touch it. We've definitely had issues with static on our Arizona but never really to the point where it was ghosting/overspraying ink. More just that it picks up dust on the heads then...
  15. Need Help stupid newbie question

THIS. A million times. I also die a little inside every time I see signs with improper radius on borders etc.
  16. Help! Delamination on wide format prints

Ok and what is "the laminate"....? Something is obviously off here, and I would suspect it is the laminate.
  17. Help! Delamination on wide format prints

This would be a great start...............................
  18. Flatbed Cutters - Cutting Mats

Thanks Christian, will get this on order. I've had good luck with LMT Onsrud and Belin bits so far, but haven't tried any zinc-coated ones. Will give it a go! Looking at the image, I can really see how cutting too deep would mess things up. Obviously the right part of the bit needs to be...
  19. Flatbed Cutters - Cutting Mats

Thanks - I'm glad you brought that up. So is it pretty uncommon for shops to mount full sheets of ACM then CNC all the pieces out??? I love this workflow and it is SO much more efficient than what we used to do - cut all the pieces on our sheet cutter (or have them cut on a CNC or saw...
  20. Flatbed Cutters - Cutting Mats

Thanks Alan, good to know. Hopefully this means we don't have to drop $1000+ for another roll anytime soon. Do you see any noticeable difference in cut quality when you're routing over heavily used areas of the mat? (I'm assuming no, since you're using yours for months, but figured I'd ask)...
